I'm also thinking this doesn't need to be limited to a variant swap. Think of all the whalez that will be shared that day. If you really want a certain variant perhaps you bring some whalez that you keep unopened in reserve just for trading for the variant you want.....

It's been said, but I'll second Windmill Brewery. Been there twice and they have a pretty good set of options.

How is the parking around the festival if you're planning on parking overnight and picking up with car on Sunday morning?

Also how's 350 Brewing Co? I've heard good things about some of their beers, but haven't seen anything mentioned on this thread.

Is the park across the street even open? Last time I was at FFF (maybe month or two ago) there was a bunch of construction going on. I parked there last year. Arrived at 9 am and it was maybe half full. I was thinking of arriving at 10 this year as we got C/D/E but a little nervous it will be full by then. Then what? Any other places to park?

In my opinion, they're nothing special - I went once after hitting up Hailstorm and The Open Bottle and was underwhelmed.

It's definitely still open to the public, although I don't know what the parking situation will be like with that hotel construction.

Are there any tables or chairs within any of the sharing tents within the festival? Or is everyone just standing around sharing bottles?

There are picnic tables and benches around the festival. Last year there were several under each tent.

Alright finally locked down what my wife and I are bringing for Hampton Inn Friday night/DLD. Group A so we'll be there early (6-7am). Likely won't get through all of it but there's no such thing as too much beer.

Happy to share with anyone regardless of what you have because after all good beer is meant to be shared. That said, been dying to try Assassin, DBH, BAA, VR, and some of DL's "better" variants for a while so if anyone is feeling generous, I'd love to sync up =).

Love 350 Brewing! I go there very often and it's very rare that they brew up anything I don't care for. Hailstorm is good, but 350 will win every time with me.

Of course it won't be limited to a variant swap. I just think the addition of people swapping variants would be cool.

There are picnic tables, but these will go fast. People make a beeline for the tables once they enter the fest.

Yes, friends I go with park here every year and have not had to pay. I can only attest to last year, no problems, not that far of a walk.

Anyone know of any spots that offer overnight parking? Does the park, by chance?

I know a place that provides parking and a free shuttle in Munster. Not sure on price, I think it runs 1 variant per vehicle. If you are interested, hit me up.

Edit: If you get vintage and no variants, they keep the vehicle.

My questions leading up to DLD MMXVII:
Will we see a finalized festival map before DLD?
Why the sudden change to if you don't pick up your allotment during the designated group time you have to wait until the end of group E to pick it up?
What's the deal with the staging area and how's it supposed to work?
Why does @prior2two have his dog dressed up like that?
Will the guest taps improve this year?
Will anyone from here meet up with anyone in a DA shirt?

I have more questions...but I'll leave it at this for now.

Probably, maybe a day or two before.

Since variants are being divided up evenly between groups, this helps keep it fair. If a bunch of Group As go during Group B there then they are reducing the chances of Group B people getting a variant or their desired variant, as some will be randomly handed out to Group A people.

I am guessing the whole "check their ticket and then pull from the Group A pile" idea was logistically too hard.

Interested in this too, but perhaps they will start filtering Group As in early, or just filtering people in to the fest early in that area.

I certainly hope so. Hopefully good weather + short lines mean more tap turnover.
