What's your ideal Dark Lord Variant?
Mine's Apple Brandy Barrel Aged w/ Vanilla Beans
I honestly think if they'd ever do an extremely high level of coffee to counteract the sweetness the beer would be much better. I know that it already has coffee, but just a "Double Coffee DL" would be great, BA or not. FVM in a bourbon barrel would've been money IMO (more than it was).
Would love to see Pappy Van Winkle DL, aged for 24 months.
Agreed, if very bitter, very roasty coffee, yet not acrid.
Or maybe peanut butter!
Honestly I don't think they'll ever top MMHJ.
Agree with a straight Coffee/BA Coffee Variant..... I haven't had Cognac Coffee from 2015 yet, but FVM was amazing.... I'd like to see a Bourbon FVM because it's hard for me to imagine it getting better than original FVM.
Dark Lord with Vanilla Bean, Chilies, Cinnamon, and Cocoa Nibs aged 50% in Rum Barrels, 50% in Apple Brandy. (aka DB Huna)
If they would do a double coffee non BA version, they could probably produce like 2000 bottles and it would be a great consolation variant after the higher coveted BAs ran out. But I think double coffee is too boring for them lol. Unless the coffee was called "Fetus Banger" coffee or such.
FVM was probably one of the best beers I have ever had, and I would love to try a Bourbon version, for better or worse.
Greenwich mean time all the way!!
They used it on their BA bottles for many years. The pic is an example of one from 2012: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26/40508/
Where is the "3F"
a shortened form of a word or phrase.
synonyms: shortened form, short form, contraction, acronym, initialism, symbol, diminutive; More
the process or result of abbreviating.
chunky peanut butter
but seriously, i'd love to try a peanut butter version.....but it would be hard to top bourbon vanilla
It's there, right before the "loyds".
lol, see above definition of abbreviation. C'mon man you're ruining it.
Pay special attention only to the abbreviation, not the spelled out words, on the official old skewl logos below broseph.
Didn't you just a few posts up the page use "MMHJ" for Marshmallow Handjee? Wouldn't it be MH as a proper abbreviation since Marshmallow and Handjee are one word each? Maybe your abbreviations/acronyms should be correct before you lecture others on their shortcomings?
Those are brewer's keys, not F's. How the heck would one of the 3 Floyd's unlock the brewery with an F?
Oh even more ruiners. Shitting on everything. All teh shitz!
Correct? We're not talking proper abbreviations, but FFF abbreviations, and there isn't one for MMHJ. Most people use MMHJ on trade boards. FFF doesn't abbreviate MMHJ as far as I'm aware, and if they did, it would be BVDL VBDL BBVDL BDLVDLDBL, or something
Not gonna lie... I'm pretty proud of myself for starting this current mini-shit-show of a debate.
Carry on everyone!
If you go to 3floyds.com, you will see "3 Floyds Brewing Co" near the top right and on the About page. So, the abbreviation may actually be 3FBC. This aligns with Columbus Brewing Co. which in Columbus, is often referred to as CBC.
CBC stands for the Craft Brewers Conference though, let's start a new fight.
phfftttt. it's the canadian broadcasting corporation.
From this moment forth, all ye who shall even spittle a single utterance of Three Floyds or 3 Floyds will forthwith be required to employ the agreed upon shorthand of 3FBC.
Failing to comply with this decree, whether or not out of blind ignorance, will henceforth be punishable by death.
well then maybe don't cite the proper definition of abbreviations if we're not talking proper abbreviations
i really love this, btw
Or being forced to drink Dragon Abortion...whichever
They're gonna announce the variants while we're arguing over abbreviations and we won't even notice.
And we'll need abbreviations for each of them.
I like where this thread is headed. Already half way to 150 without any new announcements. I'm confident this can be done!
You're grounded! I leave for 10 hours and...
I'm confused.....why is page count important?
Just to troll, they're just going to release a list of every variant, abbreviated.
Apple Brandy Coconut Darklord Earl Framboise Ginger?
Pretty sure that is abbreviated EoP.
Earl of Pukesmore
Oh good, the comedians of BeerAdvocate are going to try to come up with the funniest Dark Lord variants. This oughta be good.
You had me until you got to E
Do you really expect anything here to be?
While we're at it, what is everyone's preferred abbreviation for Vanilla Dark Lord?
I generally go with VBDL for Vanilla Bean. However, it seems like everyone goes BVDL for Bourbon Vanilla. I don't like that as much, especially since they did a Brandy Vanilla once.
That should pad the post count a bit.
Double Vanilla Bean Blonde Dark Lord would be fun
I've always read VBDL as Vanilla Bourbon Dark Lord and thought you guys who use this abbreviation were either dyslexic idiots, or liked being purposefully wrong like the 3F abbreviators.
