I'd say it depends on what kind of quiche.
I see where you were going there.
^the quiche is the key.
Now we need to see a Dark Lord Quiche being offered at DLD.
Where's the bacon? Gotta have bacon in there!
I did just see a screenshot on the facebook DLD page of an email from Worldwide Ticketcraft stating that the guy's tickets were sent out. Seemed sketchy at first so I looked up Worldwide Ticketcraft. Turns out they make the tickets for Etix. So...
*Insert much larger grain of salt here*
I can see the neckbeards lining up now for a wiggling, glossy black gelatinous wedge.
You should go into food advertising with a description like that . Now I really want to see that at DLD!
Lets talk about how i plan on cooking a pork roast with a bottle of dark lord.
That sounds unique, yet enticing. With just the DL and pork, or other seasonings? Crock pot or oven or...? How will it be served?
I am thinking crock pot or maybe my bigger electric roaster. I would toss is some garlic and s/p. maybe do carrots, potatoes, onion, and mushrooms.
Strain the Dark Lord/ drippings and reduce after to form a gravy (maybe cheat and use xanthan gum)
Serve family style
Oh my...that could really work. And bonus points for being brave enough to sacrifice a DL to find out. Of course, you'd have to post pics for us to see the results and provide us with the verdict.
OK, now I'm hungry!!
It is after all only a bottle of beer.... Actually anyone have a Temeculan 3000? it comes with seasoning in it...
Break out the jasmine rice and naan!
I like that. Instead of nitrogen, they carb it with nitrous oxide....
I've known of several people using either Crime or Punishment from Stone for this exact usage. Fantastic as a meat marinade!
Doing this on Mother's Day.
If it sucks you will be blamed.
To abbreviate, this would be PRWDL?
DLPR - Dark Lord Pot Roast
Ill take the blame for that. make sure you sear the roast on the sides first. it will help lock it together, otherwise it might be more like pulled pork. cook for 6-8 hrs on low, you only want the pork to get to about 155 inside. add the vegetables towards the end. carrots and chopped potatoes first(about 1 -1.5 hours before finish), onions (about 30-45min before finish), and mushrooms (about 15-20 min before finish). feel free to season and add veggies to taste.
I have cooked pork like this before in stouts, lagers, and a real treat is using a flanders red/bruin.
I like DLPR
I get British and mexican television. Am I a tripel citizen?
Depends on if you're drinking one.
Does anyone have a link to that wiki? This should be added to it..
Working late tonight, but my wife just texted me letting me know Ive received a "parcel" in the mail from eTix. As the sun normally burns my pasty white skin, I hardly ever buy anything from eTix. The odds of it being DLD related seems high.
@kodt , the creator of these graphs, runs the wiki darklordday.info
Interesting idea, though I'd probably test it with an easier to get and cheaper beer.
Also, I'm disappointed in all of you for not making a soy sauce joke. Maybe try it with garlic, ginger, green onion, a thai bird chili or two and some sesame oil.
@Sabtos did mention jasmine rice. And damn...your version does sound good!
That's because you have good taste.
DLPRWDLR (Dark Lord Pot Roast With Dark Lord Reduction)
I have done it with easier and cheaper beer. Now I am going to make a recipe I can not keep replicating...
Also using it as a thai base sounds good but ill leave that bottle on my porch for a month first and get it nice and ripe
also an odd question, can i bring an empty growler in? it would be expensive but i could technically fill it with DL inside at 5$ a draft...
I don't believe they allow them in. I always see the empty growlers on the ground with the empty bottles in the entrance share line.
I would assume it's frowned upon, but I have no idea how strict they are. I'm sure people have tried to fill one with BVDL.
Oh man....Now there is a deep dark part of me that wants to bring an empty growler and a funnel, and try to stealth mode try to pour cups of DL into it....
Funny you should mention that, went to a fine dining restaurant here in Cleveland and they did just that with pork belly.
Exactly, I know last year I managed to get a full 32oz boston round into the festival... going to try the same thing this year. The funnel is definitely taking it one step further.
Though I think the smaller growlers may be easier to disguise amongst the bottles, sandwiches, bottles of water, etc
I definitely read that as "bottom round". Dark Lord, meat, repeat.
