I'll apparently be drunk for 40 days and 40 nights.
I'm sure they have been for a while already. FFF has been dead silent since tickets were released.
I've said it before and I'll say it again they aren't doing pub sales this year.
I checked the average date for pub sales, throwing out a couple outliers and they average around 17-18 days before the event. Which is... today.
The closest they have ever been sold to the event date is 14 days, which is Sat.
I think if God gave Noah enough of a heads up to build an ark, any online weather service will have a good enough forecast 2.5 weeks out. This is 2017, the weather is probably the most predictable thing out there.
From what I've heard around the region here , there will be no pub tickets
Here we go...
There will be no pub tickets...until pub tickets are released...this may occur under the radar so regulars have a better chance at getting them....it may be going on right now and just not posted...guess you'll just have to ask at the kiosk....
Anything over 5 days is just forecasting on trends which is borderline worthless.
It may be time to get a lots antsy
What's more worthless, in your opinion? The early weather forecasts or the list of bands?
It is a tie. I value both at zero.
A buddy of mine had his guest have to drop out of DLD so I very graciously offered to go in that persons place. So I will in fact be attending DLD this year and I will also say I will never again stick my nose up to online group C tickets, I can't handle this local ticket anxiety again.
BTW...welcome to thread page #96.
Just did some preliminary research on the rumored bands via Spotify.
Before the vocals kick in Amon Amarth is tight. It would totally get grating for me after a song or 2 however. The music is really good though.
Their album covers are fucking sweet though.
Black Rivers were surprising. I think I would totally watch them.
Also, for what it's worth, Spotify confirms Amon Amarth and Goatwhore for the fest.
Amon Amarth and Goatwhore confirmed themselves for the fest.
You can clearly see how much I value the bands
What about dragon abortion and fetus banger?
GOD DAMN IS THAT FUNNY! They sound like the names of real metal bands BUT THEY ARENT! Every time I see a fake metal band name I laugh for hours and hours and send them to all my friends. We laugh over and over again.
You guys are going to drive @Jplachy to alcoholism. Good thing there is a fest with beer coming up.
Sounds like somebody has a case of the Mondays.
Wouldn't it be a case of the Wednesdays...
I'll see myself out.
Try not to OD on fun: http://www.metalbandnamegenerator.com/
Screw the two of every animal crap, nothing but whalez!
They're playing the tent
High On Fire are excellent.
So let's say I'm an idiot who hasn't booked a hotel room yet. What would you say are my best remaining options?
(First time attending DLD, going to be there with my wife)
Yeah, I'm not even a huge fan of metal but High on Fire are awesome.
Book hotel or AirBnB as close to fest as possible (avoiding areas you find to be 'unsafe') and then Uber back and forth from that location. In all likelihood it will be further from fest than you want, but I would say it's your best option.
Unless you want to spend weekend in Chicago in which case you could still book hotel or AirBnB and then catch shuttle from one of the few locations that will be running to and from DLD throughout that day. In this route, you want to make sure there is going to be space available on a potential shuttle.
You can always stay at the Holiday Inn in Tinley Park IL. There are shuttles that run from The Open Bottle which is within walking distance of the hotel.
Not exactly the closest solution. But you'd have a shuttle to and from DLD and could grab taps at The Open Bottle before and after. My buddies and I are on the 8:30 shuttle out and there's usually a decent little share on the ride to FFF's.
Edit* To be clear you'll need to purchase shuttle tickets on The Open Bottle's website. Both a drop off and pickup ticket.
I'm sorry... are you from Chicago? I don't trust anything until the day of. temperature and precipitation. It'll fluctuate 5-10 degrees before it is all said and done.
If you don't have anything yet, my friend booked an extra room at the Hammond Comfort Inn. They should have a shuttle to and from the event.
Let me know if you are interested and I'll verify with him that it is still available.
If you have a desire to do something that weekend besides just DLD, then book a hotel or something in Chicago. I hear it's a pretty fun city. A couple different companies run shuttles, and you shouldn't have a problem getting a ticket on one.
Last year was supposed to be 60 and sunny based on the forecast two weeks out. Do yourselves a favor and don't check the weather until a few days prior.
@Jplachy is on there now.
@zach60614 does it better.
The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of every kind of .rar whalez, one to drink and one to cellar, and one pair of every kind of shelf turd, one to drink and one to cellar, and also seven pairs of every kind of sour, lambic and kettle-soured, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for the entirety of Dark Lord Day, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every cardamon variant I have made.” And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.
You sir have won the internet again.
