    Capone's "sold out."

I saw the facebook post go out around noon yesterday and got there within 15 minutes. The dude behind the counter told me that the person in front of me had just purchased the last bottle. I left, got in my car, and started dialing a couple other places to see if I might have better luck elsewhere. Apparently the guy then had a change of heart, came outside, waved for me to come back in, and sold me a bottle saying "I had this held for my loyal customers, but I can let you have one."

I ran into the same thing when they received that unexpected Bramble shipment earlier this year also. If they don't remember your face, most limited stuff is "sold out" even if it's not actually sold out. The crappy end of that deal is that I am in there pretty damned often, I guess I just don't have that memorable of a face.

Re: the Capone's story above, if they hold their stuff for their "most loyal customers," why do they even bother posting on Facebook or Twitter that it's in? You would think that their "most loyal customers" would be in so regularly that they wouldn't need an alert.

Most customers come to your store, see what you have and may become loyal customers. He doesn't hold the entire shipment back for "loyal customers" but a good amount of it for sure. I actually thought that might have stopped when Freddy took a step back from work there, but I guess not.

This year it was 20 dollars at the brewery same as last year. In the Twin Cities I saw it as cheap as 18.99 and as expensive as 24.99 plus tax of course.

It drives me crazy that there are 3 Binny's within about a 10-minute drive from one another out in the immediate western burbs and they typically release their most-sought-after beers minutes apart. I would bet anything that the same people that got Darkness at GE also got it at DG. I remember the same thing happening with Parabola.

Lots of us have daytime jobs. We just happen to have some flexibility to leave for 30+ minutes immediately after seeing a tweet.

Trust me, I've missed a good share of releases because I was on a call when Vince (at DG) or Alex (at WB, now OB) tweeted something.

I actually used to work close enough to the BG Binnys that I could have made it over there, provided I saw the tweet right away. Now I work 20 minutes further out and I don't know any stores close enough to me that would tweet something like this. *wipes tears*

I feel like I've seen less tweeting from places over the past year, which I hope isn't a trend. It is hard enough to chase things down even with social media, without it means a lot of calling and stopping by shops for stuff that isn't there.

Last year Darkness went quick but was still not impossible to get. But I guess with it being in a barrel and whatnot this year.... anyway good luck folks! I used up all my chasing for the month on Founders Harvest Ale :stuck_out_tongue:

I got to imagine stores for the most part hate these releases. Constant calling or people stopping in asking and then I have heard the profit is low on these releases. Combine that with most people just coming in to get the release and nothing else and not being back until the next limited release. I can imagine it gets old quick.

Not tweeting it may help limit it to more of their regular customers.

I heard that some stores in the Twin Cities here have rejected their Darkness delivery. A lot of the less boutique type stores have been rather "surly" (pun intended) when I stopped by to get a bottle. Talking to some of them, they absolutely hate the barrage and I don't blame them.
