1,200 wrist bands, 6 bottles per band....damn that is a lot of beer. Hopefully I will be able to trade for some.

    Nice! I'll be there!

Kind of wondering if they'll start wristbanding overnight instead of in the morning...?

That would suck for someone getting a quick nap in. They would wake up at 5am to no wrist band despite being near the front of the line.

That is a bummer they are disallowing canopies during the day this year. Specifically if there is rain or bad weather. "Any tents/structures that are up during daylight hours will not be allowed."

My guess is that if it is raining they will not complain about a canopy going up.

Yes! I have dreamed of this beer since Darkness last year and cannot wait for it again. It will be the majority of my drinking for the day

With the given bottle count, when would someone have to get there in order to make sure they get bottles? I'll be in town that weekend for a wedding and the rehearsal dinner is on that Friday. The wedding is Saturday but not until 4pm so I should be okay there.

I'd get there before daylight this year (no later than 5-6am). Even that might be cutting it close given the general increasing demand for craft beer this year.

Last year my brother and I arrived between 3-4am. We were just around the corner. We were planning to be much earlier this year. But of course, as it gets colder, our ambitions get lower.

I will be overnighting it as well. Slept well in the car last year, anticipating the same this year, unless the impending spreadsheet will have specified early morning tappings.

So many people are showing up this year its gonna be a shit show. Allotments will be cut because they didn't think that many people would show up and don't wanna send everyone that showed up Saturday empty handed. People that showed up Friday will be mad because they felt entitled to the 6. There won't be enough Darkness on tap for everyone as previous years when it was actually available on tap.

After this year, next year they will revamp the event with some sort of ticketing system to make the release better. This is the problem that almost every brewery is now facing.

After Dark Lord Day became a shit show they introduced a ticket system. Founder's 15th Anniversary requires tickets. Next KBS release will be ticketed as well.

I don't see this happening - EBAY killed the secondary market and people are not going to stand in the cold to make a few extra dollars a bottle. What will kill this event is if the new brewery is in a more populated part of town that can't handle the crowd. Police are cool with everyone breaking the open container law in the middle of a business part - not in other parts of town.

As for Founder's - they switched to the ticketed system because of Grand Rapids!

Until you hear about a ticket system from Omar himself, please don't put that statement out as fact.

The only thing that's changing, for bottles, is the wristband. It's the exact same number (6) and I think almost the exact same number of wristbands. They're just making it so there isn't a horde of people waiting in a line to pick up their 6 bottles. They had all of those, plus some, at the event in addition to selling through distributors. There should be NO shortage of Darkness this year. Now, how fast it sells out is a different story.
