Post pics. Vicarious thrill better than no thrill at all. Wish I could be there!

I'm going to have to practice setting up my tent in the dark. I was happy to have one last year, I don't think this year will be any different. I'm hoping that once the neighboring businesses leave that the moratorium on tents is lifted. I will bring some odd beers, not gonna check reviews, just gonna open and see what happens.

Because you don't plan ahead? lol

Seriously, you will be missed. I will be sure to pour a little out for you and all the homies that are unable to make it.

I'll be bringing a few things from New England (Maine Beer Company, some others). Once I figure it out, I'll update the spreadsheet with more details.

My apologies if my questions are already answered above...

Me and a few buddies are headed out to Darkness Day for the 1st time this year. No clue what to expect, no clue what time to get there. The few posts on here that I read mentioned well before sunrise (i.e. 4ish am). Is this still pretty much the status quo as far as everyone's opinions go? Also, if you could, would you post some of the highlights of the event you've experienced, just to peak my interest even more  ?

Finally, we'll be getting in to town Friday night and will most likely check out the Town Hall Brewery. Is this the way to go? I've heard they're solid and don't really know of any other brewery/restaurant. Thoughts?

Still finally....any bottle shop suggestions near Apple Valley?

    Thanks

Time to get there - I would say anytime between 3:30pm Friday and 4am Saturday if you want to be assured the 6 bottles

    Highlights -
    - the line...it's a gigantic bottle and food share. Bring some of both and join the fun...it lasts all night.
    - Omar delivering kegs of Moe's Bender and Coffee Bender to the line at Sunrise
    - One off Firkin tapping during the event itself
    - Heavy Metal music bashing your skull in when you're drunk and tired and cold from the long night

    Town Hall -
-Great place to visit if you've never been there. Zipps is a great bottle shop not too far away and the Republic is a great bar just across the street from Town Hall. I would skip Town Hall Friday and try to make it Saturday for their release of Three Hour Tour - think Almond Joy liquified.

    Cheers!!!

DR covered this well, but to add on, you might consider the Darkness Eve event at Stub and Herbs on Friday. The lineup hasn't been posted yet (as far as I'm aware), but it's typically quite epic. Definitely make a point to hit Town Hall before you go, though - it's worth it. The Republic is also right across the street from TH, and has 50+ craft taps, if you're looking to hit a couple spots.

For bottle shops near Apple Valley, I'd highly suggest Blue Max in Burnsville - just a bit west of AV.

You picked a great event to attend - DD is a highlight of my year every year. Just be sure to dress warm...

I'll be heading to Dave's BrewFarm this Saturday & will be picking up some growlers to share. If anyone wants to say hello/share some beers with a couple of first-timers @ Darkness Day, look for the 2 bundled up nerds sitting by the Gandalf cardboard cutout. We'll be camping out the evening before.

As far as bottle shops go, you can check the municipal stores and see what they have on hand. Store #1 at Cedar (hwy 77) and County 42 is pretty solid, and store #3 (pilot knob and County 46, by Target) is pretty good too. You could also swing over to Burnsville and swing through Blue Max off County 42. Don't forget that liquor stores are closed on Sunday here in MN, shop ahead of time.

If Dave has growlers of Mocha Diablo on hand, & you choose to share those, you ought to have more friends than you can handle, including me.

Oh, and a Schwarzenheimer and Saison Farmfresh from Daves as well. The former is fantastic...not to take anything away from the Saison. haha

It's going to be a busy night.

I'm pumped for this year's DD. Last year, being my first, I came completely unprepared (aside from having warm clothes) and was jealous the next morning looking at the table of empty bottles. I think I've got some goodies from my recent road trip (Zombie Dust, BCBS, Gumballhead) to bring along.
