Darkness Day 2014 Thread

I think Goatwhore is pretty decent. It's the lead singer from Soilent Green.

 

I have to thank you. I didn't realize that I have the same conflict until I read your post. Looks like the wife will be driving me up to Brooklyn Center after the concert while I change into warm clothes in the backseat. Hoping to get there around 11/11:30.

 

Any tips on staying warm and sleeping haha? From Chicago so i can deal with the cold but for 8+ hours?!

 

I'm from Chicago suburbs and last two years haven't been horrible, last year in particular was awesome. Kind of chilly later at night but nothing unbearable. So many people have firepots and heaters hooked up to propane tanks that you just need to make the right friends to bottle share with if your that afraid of the cold. There's a couple guys that sleep in chairs outside with those flimsy space blankets every year that are fucking hilarious.

 

Hey guys, no earth-shattering news or anything, but I just wanted to drop in and say that I'm absolutely amped to be attending my first Darkness Day this year. I'll bring some tasties, and I can't wait to see all of you there!

Does anyone remember what they had on tap during darkness day last year... no surly beers at least?

 

Dumpster Fire and Damien were the one-offs, and of course fresh Darkness. Furious always tastes amazing at this event, it's as close to a brite tank pour as you can get.

 

They some beers on cask too.

 

Damien wasn't a one off, especially considering it was there the year before last (and even one before that I think) as well. It also shows up at other events as well.

 

In the past they've had darkness, a random one like dumpster fire, the brews that you'd expect to see in the taproom nowadays and then cask/specialties (teabag furious and the likes) which are poured at only one location away from the normal taps.

 

Todd the Axe Man would be a welcome addition this year.

 

one-off wasn't a good word choice, I meant unique to the day but I understand it's trotted out at other events.

 

I got what you meant, but since they've opened the taproom it's also frequently there. Its been there for over a month already.

 

I wonder if they will make a beer in tribute to the stolen Prius from last year.

Any place/bar in town have a good amount of machines? Lol. One more request. If you were to eat at one place in town near Surly (within 20-30 min drive) where would it be?
