Darkness in Chicago

I think it hit the week after last year. I would assume sometime next week.

 

I know they're starting Darkness events here next week, so yes, I'd assume next week for bottles.

 

I'm pretty sure Darkness didn't show up around Chicagoland until November. The Surly reps are pretty good at stating when Darkness and other beers will hit the market.

They don't really have dates up, but this is going to be a month-long thing, it looks like.

 

Can someone help me remember...does BA Darkness usually come out at the same time? However, I guess the first question should be...is there going to be a BA Darkness this year?

 

Funny, that's the one I was eyeing up as well. We will have to keep an eye on date and time for that.

 

BA came out with the regular last year; no idea what's going on this year.

I'll probably be there as well, although I'm assuming it'll be a crap shoot trying to get a bottle for myself.

According to their Facebook page, Bitter Pops event is Oct 17 5-7.

From everything I've heard here, BA Darkness won't be ready until early 2017.

Last year was the first time they had a separate BA Darkness, first opportunity to get a bottle was at Darkness Day. BA Darkness didn't hit distribution in the Twin Cities until late November/early December and I believe the other markets saw it a week or two after. This year they've explicitly said there won't be BA Darkness for sale at Darkness Day. When and how it goes to the masses is all still up in the air:

is it impossible to get bottles? I mean, having something on tap is great and all, but I want to buy a bottle and stare at it in my cellar

 

I had no problem getting a couple bottles last year. Maybe it was the case of right place, right time, but I know I found a good amount at a Whole Foods last December.

 

Did they say that on FB? I'm not on FB, so can't access that kind of info. I had assumed they were going to have it on tap, but it sounds like this is just for them to get bottles for sale to go? That's a bit less "special", as quite a few places have bottles for sale, at least they did last year.
