See if that works. I apologize it's 24 bottles. And yes it will be on tap along w a bunch of other surly. I know binnys is getting $21.99 a bomber. Grand told me 1-2 bottle limit they were unsure at the moment.

Thanks for posting that - I follow them on IG, but somehow missed that post. I'll probably have to check it out somewhere else since I have kids stuff on Mondays. Ideally I want to have it on tap, so hopefully I'll find it somewhere. I'm sure it'll pop up at a few places, just a matter of my schedule working out. If I find a bottle, I may buy it.

No problem. $22 is rich. I think I paid $17 for my parabola! I'd grab 1 if I can swing it but that's it.

I agree, and I wasn't that crazy about Darkness when I first had it, so that's why I'd look forward to having it on tap instead of buying a whole bottle.

I'm guessing most of those places listed on Surly's website will have an "event" where they have it on tap, so I'll keep my eye out for them. Sheffield's would be great, considering how close it is to my house.

In my opinion, it is substantially better than the regular. Great mouthfeel, solid BA note is noticeable, big time RIS. Kind of strange but it is like regular DL vs a BA version. There's something about throwing these RIS into barrels that really makes them shine.

No shit. I'm nearby too. Belmont and Southport is the main corner.

I wonder what they will ask for the barrel aged version

This is kinda what I had in my head when thinking about the BA version, so is exactly why I'm so intrigued to try it.

We're pretty close...I'm at Seminary & School. As far the price on the BA version, yeah...that's probably gonna be pricey. All the more reason I like to have those ones on tap, so I can get it for a cheaper price and not take down such a huge bottle at once.

I enjoyed last years a lot. Had it side by side with the BA version and only gave a slight edge to it.

I will probably do the tried and true method of one bottle fresh and one bottle to stare at..."cellar". Live close to bitter pops. Hope to see some of you guys there!!

I overheard the 15 cases part yesterday between the binnys beer manager and another customer. i was surprised (as was the other customer) but thats what the man said. emailed them later and got the rest of those details direct. so it should be accurate.

15 cases is a lot, which gives me hope. Darkness is my favorite non-BA stout (haven't had last year's BA version, but have heard that it mutes some of my favorite parts of the regular beer, which isn't unexpected), and I was crushed the one year I didn't get a bottle (2014, which was the "mediocre for Darkness" half-BA version).

I think it was around $20 a bottle last year, too, and BA was closer to $30. Don't love that price, but I'm in the minority that will pay $20 for reg. Darkness and skip $16 Parabola.

Also, I've never had anything but 2014 on tap, so I'm looking forward to that as well.

Stout Season (as I call it) has commenced!

Anyone hear anything in the burbs before I start calling around bugging beer department folks at various Binnys?.

Don't call them - look for an e-mail with the info coming by early Monday. All Binny's should have their shipments already but cannot sell them until Monday.

I'd say no...if you want to know, call them or go in and ask them.

I'm sorry - I should have explained further: you can sign up for "The Beer Buzz", where they send out general company-wide information in an email. This week they will have information on Darkness and the availability of it. But if you have a local one you go to, by all means, call them and confirm with them.
