Darkness in Chicago

according to beer menus there are 3 stores that are not binny's that have it. they must have distributed a ton of it.

 

Standard Market ran out at about 6pm before I could get one there. Found a suburban place on BeerMenus and got one ($25...yeesh) and then was able to luck into 2 on the shelf at another smaller place. Sounds like some smaller places got it today so pop in and ask I guess

 

I got a bottle yesterday evening at a local Whole Foods. It's probably still around some places would be my guess.

 

Anyone know if the BG or Arlington Heights Binnys received Darkness?

I checked BG yesterday and nothing...

 

Both did. BG had it listed on their board and AH had it on the shelf.

 

For anyone that wanted to know in the northern burbs, it came and went at Algonquin Binnys and Mchenry

 

Algonquin had it for 3 days though, i picked one up monday and since they still had some this morning when i went to grab some death by coconut i couldn't walk past it

 

For anyone in the northwest burbs, Darkness will be on tap at a new beer bar called Consume in Lake Zurich at a Surly (mini) tap takeover.

The date is 11/10 and they will have Todd the axeman on tap as well.

I'm planning to have the fresh darkness on tap here and then age my bottle for 1 or 2 years

Saw Beer Temple got theirs today. Managed to get mine from Beermiscuous after they posted late last night. Seems like there's a bit more to go around this year compared to last.

 

My local Binny's (Elmwood Park) still had some in the back. They said they got quite a bit of it this year.

 

Yikes, it looks like Darkness is becoming the new Abyss.

 

I sure hope it tastes better!!

 

I cracked mine on Sunday night. Absolutely delicious. A lot of dark chocolate with a hint of hop at the end.

 

I drank one at a bar in Downers Grove for the Cubs game..it got me through innnings 3-7.

 

Saw a couple bottles hanging around Whole Foods in LP, for anyone who didn't snag any.
