I've heard from a few other BAs that Darkess after a few years starts to fall off fast and that anything older than a '10 is probably getting past it's prime. Anyone with experience care to share their thoughts? I've only had the '11, which was straight deliciousness! Thanks in advance.

'10 or older past its prime? That's a new one.

While I was not there, I did meet several BAs who drank 07 last Darkness Day or around that time. Said it was great.

Older than '10 (not including '10). Just what I was told my man, in no way my words. Trying to get other people's opinions before I go after some older bottles.

different nuances come out with age. I enjoyed every one of them. Would like the 07 again. I say poppykosh to any vintages older than 10 arent any good.

    Your sources are idiots. :grinning:

We did a vertical this past Darkness Day & there wasn't a vintage that I wouldn't happily drink again; of the more common vintages, the '09 is still marvelous (though I expect the '11 to age even better). And the '07 was ridiculously amazing, which was surprising, since I didn't expect it to hold up to the shining, lost-my-virginity memories of it.

I opened the '09 in March and it was the best tasting Darkness I've ever had (had 10 and 11 prior to that). If it was downhill, I'd love to tasted it fresh!

If its going down hill, I will lay at the bottom and let it come to me. Darkness is a very complex and diverse stout, it mos def changes with age.

So no one has had a bottle that seemed past it's prime? Glad to know for one, but happy as well as I love this beer and now plan on putting a few '11s aside for a few years. Thanks for the info guys.
