So can someone fill me in on whether there beer is available still in bottles or is it just at the actual farm itself. What the heck do they have on tap? Anything, anybody, bueller? Their website's coming, the blog is spotty, and I dont see much on social media. Where does one get updates and know about what they got?

I loved matacabras when I had it like 4 years ago and used to buy it as much as I could but I haven't seen it in years.

Going by hazy memory (brain damage from drinking I'm certain), Dave's stopped the contract brewing of the Lager & Matacabras this past winter. So no more portable Dave's beer. I'm sure I heard why at the taproom but have even less recollection of that.

Hours/weekends they're open are usually posted on Facebook, which seems to have the most of the limited info that creeps out there.

And I believe I can speak for the masses when asked "What's on tap?" the answer is "Who the hell cares?" Seriously. Haven't ever had a bad beer there, & some of the stuff that sounds like it's going to be a 93 car train wreck turns out to be killer good. Stuff is always rotating on & off. I suppose you could call right around the time they open & ask, but really - just go. He's one of the most talented brewers in the Midwest, & you won't be disappointed.

And if they have Mocha Diablo on, speed the entire way...

I loved what they had and like that they are still kinda unknown on this website of hype trains (how the hell are people hearing about new glarus now?) but unfortunately its about 400 miles from my house. If they do growlers and someone would like to help me out, let me know you fine folks of northern wisconsin.

The BrewFarm has 'growlers', I believe they are 750MLs (I could tell you if I was staring at them at home, but sadly, I'm 'working'). What they have on hand also varies wildly in the bottles/growlers & some don't match up with what's on tap. And if you see something growlered you like, grab it. They tend to sell out towards closing time of the best stuff, as we've learned the hard way.

And yeah, for a 400 mile drive, well, maybe you can hit Dave's on Facebook & try to get some inside info on one weekend that he's open.

The bar also does Growler fills as well as they have their own Stainless Steel Swing Top Growlers for sale as well. You get your first Growler fill at N/C with the purchase of the SS Growler, All the details should be online by the end of the week. www.stonetaphudson.com

Was just at the BrewFarm on Monday, enjoying some tasty beers and fine company. I'm surprised he hasn't posted the September taproom hours on the blog yet.

Growlers are $10 for a 1-liter swing-top, plus $5 deposit. As mentioned above, the growlers don't necessarily match the tap list, and may sell out by closing time.

The way to do it, if you go, is to get a flight. $10 for a small pour of each beer on tap (usually 8). Then follow that with whatever suits your fancy. Many of the beers aren't listed on BA, and don't really fit into standard beer styles. To give an idea of a typical tap list, on Monday it was something like this:
    Super-K
    Roggen Lager
SOB OMG (a killer beer, with sour orange and basil)
Schwarzenheimer (kind of a dark pils IIRC)
    Columbus Single Hop Saison
    Midnight Saison
    Mandarina Single Hop Lager
    Brewfarm Funk 2

Are there hotels nearby? Or is camping the way to go?

I will stop sobbing over missing out on SOB OMG just long enough to recommend Menomonie as the closest town with any hotels.

I'd put up a ISO - Daves Brew Farm growler in the ISO:FT but I'd think i'd fall on deaf ears, so does anyone wanna do a trade for some stuff?

If you were slightly quicker on your feet, you wouldn't have these problems, Jeep.

I made it out there a few times right after their grand opening in '09 or '10.This thread made me realize that I havent been out there since May of 2011. Doesnt make much sense especially since its only about 40 minutes away for me!

He had another batch of SOB OMG in one of the tanks. If I'm remembering right, he said it should be ready for either the next taproom weekend or the one after that.

Also a batch of Mocha Diablo in the works. Not sure when that one will be ready, but I hope I'm there when it is!

Time, my friend, time. It is a 7 hour round trip to drive. I could cut that down to 3 hours flying. Although with takeoff and landing I should add another 30-60 minutes.
