Is there some sort of special event going on? Might need to be a little more specific. I have wanted to check this place out, but it's been awhile since I checked into them. I'm not sure what to seek out when I make the journey in the future.
Place is great. There really isn't one beer that is a special release or a must try (except Mocha Diablo) so I suggest just showing up and trying everything you can.
Fill 'er up and go! And remember to bring a lawn chair -- you'll need it after all the 'Rocket Fuel.'
We made the trip to Dave's yesterday. Very impressive. Incredibly creative beers. Had the flight of all eight selections. I took home a growler of S.O.B. O.M.G. (sour orange basil, oh my goodness) Will definitively be back...next time with grill! Stopped at 'Nova on the way back for a growler of TG Zeelander. Nice day.
My must have/tries: SOB OMG, Svengali, Trapplist, Sinistra, AuBeXXX, Eye PEa EH?, Biere d'Elegance, Lupulo Noir, McAnderson, The Bruiser, any of the single hop lagers series. Just go there and drink!
Add saison dandy, rhubarb saison (or is it saison rhu? been too long), saison peche, and... (the list goes on and on and on!)
The great thing about BrewFarm flights is that there is always one beer that sounds like an abomination and it never is. Last time it was Snappy Saison. Brewed with sugar snap peas. You can taste the peas big time. And it ain't at all bad.
Agree with pretty much everything said in here already. Always worth it to get a flight, and always a couple good surprises in the mix. Favorite beer I've had there, among many excellent ones: Galaxy Single Hop Saison. All of his single hop lagers and saisons are interesting, but that one was amazing.
If you are ever looking for Dave's when his tap room isn't open, Stone Tap (new craft beer bar in Hudson) has 1-2 lines dedicated to him. I know Galaxy Single Hop Saison is currently on, they are also going to be doing some special events & beers with Dave in the near future.
Thanks for the love! Slight correction - it's a Columbus Single Hop Saison that is (or probably was) on at Stone Tap. My "Roggen Lager" is replacing the SHS and Brewer's Gold Single Hop Lager is still on. Stone Tap has gone through a lot of my beers thus far and yes, we'll be doing some special events in the near future. I've got a "Mandarina Single Hop Lager" coming out soon, as well as a really nice to-be-named dark saison. And for what it's worth, our next open Tap Room weekend is AUG 3-4 (3-7 p.m.) featuring the 100th menu and it'll be a very "packed" menu with a lot new beers - come on out!!!
I swear you're building your open tap room hours to match my busy schedule. There hasn't been a weekend that's gone by this summer where I've been able to visit as I've had other plans. And every other weekend I have all the time and you're not open. I'm severely craving some Dave's brews! Hopefully in the next month I can make it.
Any chance you'll have the tap room open Sept. 6th? My buddy and I will be passing through on the way to northern WI and I really want to see this place! Or do you sell growlers during non-taproom hours?
Dave's BrewFarm Happy Hour from 4-7PM at Stone Tap in Hudson, WI. Hang out and chat with Dave and enjoy $3 pours of his beers.
Sorry to say we won't be open that weekend. Depending on when you're rolling through, I'd sell some liters for you but give me a heads-up as to a time window. PS - come visit me at Stone Tap today!!!
That's incredibly kind of you. I can let you know and you should tell me if there any MN brews I can bring for the trouble.
Couldn't believe this month's schedule. Once again, I have no plans this weekend (Saturday). Next weekend I'm out of town. The following weekend I'm available. And finally the weekend of Labor Day of course I'm at the cabin. Ugh! I can't win! I'm LONGING for some Dave's!
Rather than starting a new thread, I will just post here. I am planning on heading out there this coming weekend, Sunday 9/15. Anybody want to join? Or need a #goandpickitupformebro?
