I've been wanting to try some beers from this place for a long time now but I realize that access to it isn't exactly easy to get. Most likely, I'd be looking for someone within close proximity to the place to fill up a couple growlers. Now, I know that in return for such a thing I'd gladly go above the $4$ amount of said beer included in a trade, but my questions for some of the more seasoned traders here are: 1) Has anyone actually traded for some beers from this place? And if so, 2) What level of beer did you trade? (locals, rarities, vintages, etc) Thanks everyone, I'd like to post something soon before weather starts turning in that part of the country.
Can't speak to your inquiry regarding rarity / availability / etc..., but it has just started cooling off from the absurdly hot summer we've had in this region. I think you'll be fine trading for stuff out of the Midwest up until November at a minimum (saying that I've jinxed myself into snow by September). Cheers! ~Tony
Wow, no info or thoughts from anyone on this? Should I just throw up an ISO:FT offering locals? Anyone from MN or WI here even been to the place?
The First Rule of the BrewFarm... (1) I have only traded a single bottle & that was to a long-time trading partner, & mostly because I wanted him to taste the magnificence, & (2) because of that, we were just swapping boxes, so nothing in particular swapped hands for that single bottle. That said, Dave's is in the bullseye of nowhere. I've been out on a Saturday when there have only been about 8-10 people in the taproom & I'd wager they were all locals except us. I'd bet there are very few traders who make it out there more than once or twice a year, so the number of growlers/bottles that are going to change hands is going to be minimal at best. And the stuff he does have to go is so absurdly good that I'd have a tough time letting it go. In sum: I think you'd have to catch someone headed out there & make a deal with them. People are unlikely to have them lying around. Good luck, it's worth the chase.
Thanks for the input. I didn't expect anyone to have any lying around. And yeah, I was hoping to find someone somewhat close or planning on going. Hence the offer to go above $4$ for whatever I trade for. I was just fearful that it might be treated like ISOs for Hill Farmstead and have people asking for my entire cellar PLUS all future releases I may come across. I'm not a whale-hunter and don't have that sort of heavy artillery to get any trade done that I want. I guess I'll just post for it and see what surfaces. Thanks
