I'm headed to Chicago around noon tomorrow. Plan is to go straight from O'Hare to Smoque. 1) Are there any good bottle shops near Smoque or near the blue line along the way? 2) Are there any good bars to watch the Manchester United game near Smoque or great craft beer bars to watch the game within 20 minutes via public transportation? 3) Are there any beer events happening tomorrow or notable leftovers from weekend festivities? Again sadly, I'll only be in town for a few hours. Much thanks!
Do you have to go to Smoque? Why not go to Revolution and get good beer and good food all in one shot?
I can tell you this, the "official" Chicago Manchester United bar is Beef and Barley where they plan all United games not matter how early they are. Check out the MUFChicago FB page for their info. They have a good list of beer there but nothing like a Revolution would.
Actually planning on going to Revolution for dinner. Heard good things about Smoque and like the idea of byob.
1) Fischman's is a 5 minute walk from the Jefferson Blue Line stop in between O'Hare and Addison (for Smoque). Huge selection of stuff there, don't be fooled by the dive bar exterior (it's a liquor store/bar). 2) The Globe Pub is about a 20 minute bus ride from Smoque and is a really good soccer bar. Beer selection is pretty good as well but really you'd be going for the atmosphere. You could always head back to Fischman's and watch the game there. Their bar always has great stuff but the atmosphere isn't great.
