Planning a day trip around Suarez Family. May only have time to hit one more brewery and presume Sloop makes the most sense. If time allows, we may try to hit Rushing Duck on our way home.

It seems as though we'll have to go to a restaurant for lunch since food isn't a huge priority at any of these locations. Any recommendations nearby with a solid beer list?

Any advice at all is greatly appreciated!

if you're going to Rushing Duck, check out Eddie's Roadhouse in Warwick, about 15 min away. they always have a good taplist (sometimes a Hill Farmstead or two) and their food is good. Craft Beer Cellar is a 2min walk from the Roadhouse as well, and they generally have some nice bottles/cans.

Thanks so much for the reply- I love Eddie's. One question: I notice that they keep a ton of great cans that they don't advertise. Is that something where you have to ask, or will bartenders crack open a can because they like you? My other thought is that they have some type of can exchange.

    Paging @cavedave!

If he doesn't recommend a visit to Rushing Duck I will be utterly shocked!!

    Cheers!

I am actually curious about this as well. Never asked, though if you do and get an answer please let me know

I do believe there is a sign behind the bar that says to ask for their can options, though not entirely certain. I remember seeing a sign for cans though so I don't think it's top secret or anything.

The cans they advertise on their menu is normally from local breweries and it rotates. The last time I was there I had Stellar Wind from Finback so I don't think that part is the secret.

Last summer Eddie cracked open a Tree House Alter Ego out of the blue for my friend and me. On a recent UnTappd post, they referenced a can exchange at the bar when someone asked about Heady Topper.

Plan Bee is between Suarez/Sloop and Rushing Duck if you're doing this on a Saturday. Their bottle stand is open from 12-5, and the detour adds only about 15-20 minutes to the drive.

That place looks awesome- thanks. After planning out the routes, we may end up only having time for Rushing Duck/Eddie's as the other places are an extra hour out of the way from where we are coming.

It's a Friday, unfortunately. I've heard good things about Plan Bee. Maybe next time!

    Thanks for replying.

Depending on how much time you have, Industrial Arts is about a half hour from Rushing Duck. Of course it is going away from PA. Industrial Arts is damn good and worth the stop.

How about Hudson Valley Brewing (HVB) then?

Heard great things about IA as well but yes, it takes us out of our way. If we lived in this area without young kids, we'd be crushing these places! Thoughts on RD?

Pulls us further out of our way but love what I have had from them. Next time!

    Thanks for the reply.

I haven't been to any of these yet, but how about Mill House in Poughkeepsie, County Fare in Wappingers Falls or Draught in Beacon for food?

Ended up heading to Suarez anyway and stopped at Daughter's for lunch- thanks for the recommendation! Food was very good (although the portions were a bit on the small size) and the people were very nice. HF Edward and Hudson Valley King Wavy were the tap highlights with some nice cans (Burial, Half Acre, Common Roots) and bottles (Oxbow, OH). OH can shipment delayed because of weather- expecting more next week.
