I was a little skeptical at first because the thought of a coffee ipa honestly never occurred to me. Seemed kinda like one of those beers that tries a little too hard to be outside the box, ya know? Anyways, I had the only bottle that I'm likely to get last night (the store I go to only got 12 bottles), and I thought it was amazing. So, knowing that its a one-off brew I'm kinda bummed. Probably the only Stone collaboration that I've reallyliked so far. So, what'd you guys think about this one? Love it? Hate it? Nothing it? It's beer talk, so why not talk a little beer? : )
I was just like you, It doesn't sound like it would work, but i was really impressed with this combo. If this came in 6 packs, I would have this in my fridge on a regular basis. The aroma is heavenly, like when you walk into a coffee shop that has that "grind your own coffee beans" area. A great change of pace from coffee stouts and porters.
I liked it a lot. I was kinda thinking the same thing about the coffee bit, but they did a good job I thought. Found a second bottle the other day at a local bottle shop which I snapped up.
Really interesting and well done. Not something I really need to try again, but definitely worth a try.
Most of the Stone collaborations have been great, and I never hesitate to buy them. I loved Dayman, it had a perfect balance of coffee notes. Would definitely get it again.
Honestly, with it's reception, I'm sure Stone has taken notice. I wouldn't be surprised to see this as an annual brew from now on.
The reviews seem solid, I'd certainly give it a try. It sounds strange, but I bet putting a perfectly good beer in a bourbon barrel for more than a year sounded strange too.
It was interesting and like nothing else I've tasted, for which I give them props. I had it on tap at a local bar (only had one pint) and would definitely purchase a pack if I saw it at the store.
I loved it. It was weird seeing a non pitch black coffee beer in my glass, but it worked very well with the hops IMO. Great aroma and the coffee taste wasn't too bitter/burnt like some stouts are.
A solid IPA, for sure. Unfortunately, somebody dumped stale coffee into it. This beer was nothing but a gimmick. I've seen people refer to it as "innovative" and "creative." It was neither. Name an American craft brewery that isn't brewing at least one "coffee beer?" Coffee is the most ridiculously overused ingredient in American craft brewing right now. It makes sense to brew variants of stouts and porters with coffee as it accents the natural roastiness found in these styles. There are plenty of "coffee" stouts and porters that I enjoy quite a bit (including Stone 2013 Espresso IRS). However, Dayman is an unmitigated disaster. There is absolutely no cohesiveness to this brew. I'm not sure what the brewers were hoping to accomplish here, but all that is achieved is a "trendy" brew a bunch of clashing flavors that detract from one another. There is a reason why there aren't many breweries offering citrusy IPAs with coffee added. I've just come to accept this brew as a bad joke. A very, very, very...very bad joke.
Simply wonderful beer. I had my first bomber on Cinco de Mayo, and I immediately called the bottle shop where I bought it and gave them my credit card number to buy the last two. They also have it on tap, and so I'm drinking about 3 a week as long as it lasts. Then I have those nice two last bottles!
Sure, I'll be okay. Hope you're doing great as well, but your attempt at sarcasm isn't as witty as you seem to think it is. Dayman is one of the worst beer (not to mention horribly planned beers that is vainly gimmicky and trendy) I've had in recent memory. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Apparently, you like it. That's great, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. I'll stick with my palate and will look for recommendations elsewhere. I'm sure the feelings are mutual, and that's fine.
I loved this beer, and I wish they would bring it back like they have chosen to do with Tenth Ann. Ruination! I would drink Dayman quite frequently if it was readily available!
