I'd like to create a daily process that closes trades after a certain amount of days. Be it waiting for someone to accept your request or waiting on feedback, this would essentially lock down trades in their current state after a period of time. Based on your trading experience, how many days do you think is reasonable? Thanks in advance for the feedback. (I think it needs to be at least 14 days, but no more than 60 days, so I set the poll accordingly.)
In my experience, if it takes longer than two weeks to complete a trade, then there's a fucking issue. No more than 30 days for sure.
If the other BAer is responsive, I can usually get a trade completed in 3 days. Personally, 10 days seems like a long-ass time to me.
One month in case shit happens or someone is out of town. Two weeks is sufficient a majority of the time.
I honestly do look at threads over 30 days but just figure someone forgot to close it down. I think that they should expire at 30 days, and if it wasn't completed, they can always re-post.
If the site is to grow more outside of the US there is a need to be cognisant of international trades. As @mattafett says it is all about communication. It's not always a case of both people having both beers in their cellars/cupboards and shipping that day to somewhere 3-5 days away via FedEx.
It's close, but it looks like 30 days wins. We'll go with that now and keep revisiting for international trades on the back burner. Thanks for the feedback.
