I searched on here for recs but every post was old...best brewery/bottle shop/beer bar etc there? Anything new pop up in the last few years?

I’ll also be driving down to Orlando from Daytona and could stop somewhere in the Orlando area along the way if anyone has any recs on quick worthy stops on my way to the Hyatt Regency in Orlando.

    Thanks!

For bottle shops the places in the Daytona area will have the same stuff you'll find in Orlando. Most of the highly sought after Florida beers are brewery only releases.

For breweries there is nothing that really stands out in Daytona. Orlando has Ellipsis which makes some great IPA's.

There is a great beer bar called House for Beer in Port Orange which is just south of Daytona that has about 50 taps. They usually have a good variety of beers from FL breweries like MIA, Cigar City, J. Wakefield, Funky Buddha, etc.

I enjoyed my time at Total Wine in Daytona Beach. Currently, select Funky Buddha 4 and 6 packs are $5.99.

Daytona Beach Brewing is a nice little place right near the Race Track. you will have to google it, it sits in an industrial park. Central 28 in Debary not far off i-4 ont he way into Orlando makes great beer as well. Ellipsis is really the crown jewel of Orlando right now. They are near the Orlando airport. Worth the trip.

Ellipsis is great. Half Wall Beer House in Port Orange has 108 taps. Beachside Brew Pub in Ormond by the Sea is just North of Daytona and they make some pretty good beer. Ormond Brewing Company makes some pretty good beer.

I will also recommend Persimmons Hollow Brewery in Deland just to the West of Daytona.

Persimmon is a bold recommendation. I haven’t been back in the last few months since they tweaked recipes and I’ve heard it got better, but the recipes definitely needed tweaking. The location is good though. DeLand is a nice spot to spend and afternoon walking around.

Yeah. I'd skip that place go around the corner to the Abbey

Tomoka Brewery is only 15 mins from our hotel so probably going there Friday, then Half Barrel Beer Project Saturday then Ellipsis on the way home.

Tomoka is marginal in my opinion. If by half barrel beer project you mean Half Wall Beer House, the selection is good. If there is actually a "Half barrel beer project" then I would love to know about it.

    Ellipsis is great.

Tomoka has pretty good pizza and food in general. You can turn that into a dinner stop if you need a selling point for any non beer loving people to accompany you.

Well I only have 1 day in Daytona and it’s closest...my friend is also not a huge beer nerd so he doesn’t really care. Maybe I can convince him to go to one of the better breweries in the area but I’m not driving 30+ mins when it’s not really a beer trip. Better than nothing.

And yeah was talking about the Orlando Half Barrel Beer Project.

So if my friend is down and I pick ONE place, where should I go between these:

    House for Beer
    Daytona Beach Brewing
    Ormond Brewing
    Beachside Brewpub

Depends what you want. House For Beer is in a large plaza, has about 50 taps with an ever rotating selection that is usually quite good but it is a narrow, dark, bar with an ambiance that is so so. Daytona Beach Brewing is in an industrial plaza, they make their own beer and that is what they serve, brighter and better ambiance but the beer selection is limited but not either bad or spectacular. Ormond Brewing in an industrial park, only serves their own beer, has I believe 18 taps of their beer at any time. Small space inside but nice outside "beer garden". In my opinion the beer is a notch above Daytona. Beachside Brew Pub, serves only their own beer. Has about 10 selections that rotate. Kind of cool location, across the street from the ocean and in a little building where you see the brewing system next to the bar. Beer quality is good.

I guess my answer to the original question is why just one? However if you are visiting and one is your only option I would say do Beachside. Also if you are looking for selection Half Wall Beer House in Port Orange has the largest selection in the area with 108 taps.

    Whatever you do enjoy!

Ormond Brewing was meh, Daytona Taproom was cool, Half Barrel Brewhouse was very nice, but Ellipsis Brewing was my favorite.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

Right now Ellipsis is the best brewery in Orlando. They make incredible IPAs, the stouts are solid and the treatments they do are amazing. Cant wait until the start the barrel program.
These guys are new just 6months old. Only great things to come for them.
