I have been coming down to this area once a year for the last 10-12 years. I think it is well documented that the area is a craft beer wasteland. About the best place I ever found in the area was Bottle Caps. Is it correct that it's now closed? Any new places picking up the slack? Is Fletcher's Cigar Bar worth checking out? On another note, I'll be down from Chicago during Thanksgiving week if anyone wants to set up a trade.
I'd highly recommend stopping in to see Jen and Peter at Tomoka Brewery in Ormond Beach. Just opened up earlier this year. They've done some good collabs with other FL breweries and always have a good selection of other FL beer on draft. The pizzas that they make on site are incredible. Very cool place.
Bottle Caps is closed , I was told by the staff they are remodeling BC into a brew house . I have found very few spots I would recommend in this area besides Tomoka Brewery.
Just getting around to replying to this (hey, it's only been about half a year) - I did stop in at Tomoka Brewery, in fact - twice! Peter was really cool, and he had some great beers on tap. This place will become a regular stop for me when I'm there. Thanks for the advice on this one - Brian
i'll be heading that way friday for my buddies wedding. would love to find a local shop where i can just find some decent fresh beers to drink in the hotel or by the pool. is there an ABC over there that has a decent selection? or any other shop?
