I just received one in a trade and was shocked when I opened the box and found an unwaxed bottle. Any one have any idea why CCB didn't throw some wax on this baby?
Some of the Terrapin white chocolate moo hoos and cr WnB bottles I got directly from the brewery were not waxed either. Sounds like you may have gotten some of the employee release as well. Wouldn't worry about it.
Maybe I'm crazy but I've always thought the wax was the brewery's way of guaranteeing the bottle won't get spoiled by a leak or oxygen exposure or whatever. I'm sure I'm just overreacting but I've had a lot of bad experiences with bad bottles so I can't help but be mildly concerned.
I'm not totally sold on the wax keeping oxygen out idea. If anything, I just consider waxed bottles a clever marketing ploy, but hell it does look cool
