I could be off because I don't have any Mexican Cakes but this years seem to be trading, or trying to be traded, at last years levels. There was considerably more made this year so, in theory, it should be easier to come by. I think in time requests will come down some, although a lot of that will also depend on how they are drinking once opened.

I thought the same thing, and it wasn't close.

I've got quite a nice buzz going, so I'm not sure what you're saying lol.

I thought BA Abraxas was the best beer I've had this year, and yes, it wasn't close. Not sure if it was just my taste buds or whatever, but it was like liquid Mounds, a TON of coconut. I'm forever grateful to @gueuzedreg for hooking me up with the bottle.

I was completely agree, BA Abraxas was by far my favorite beer this year.

I'm actually a little bit depressed that I no longer have a BA Abraxas in the house to stare at longingly.

I can solve that problem for you if you happen to have a DB Huna lying around. Was going to post an FT:ISO once the Cake madness died down. Never tried DBH. Would like to taste the difference.

wish I did amigo, I'd honestly make that trade in a heartbeat (having had DBH 3x now). for the record, not dissing DBH at all. it's the second-best beer I had this year

    Went ahead and posted it.

That's the beauty of beers like BAA and DBH. Each drinker has a favorite, but everyone agrees they are both fantastic brews. I hope to join that club once I get my hands on a DBH.

Choosing a favorite between DBH and and BA Abraxas is basically the best problem a stout lover can have. Have had DBH several times, had it side by side w/BA Abraxas. DBH is the clear winner for my personal tastebuds. But it's like choosing between a Lambo and a Ferrari.

Having tried the entire new BA Cake set last night (thanks and big shout out to the uber generous @IPAIsaac), I can confidently add DB Cake--a Bugatti if you will--to the mix.

All of this. i did a side by side with DBH and BAA and huna was the clear winner by a large margin. And DB Mex cake is rising through the ranks.

That said, the mex cake set is trading pretty high but its trading fair. Not that many bottles were made and most people got 2 of each and 4 of the DB so you will have to offer other high end low bottle count brewery release beers for them. Db huna could definitely land any of the mex cakes 1:1. Not sure its going to get much higher than that.

A bunch of us did a comparative tasting the night before the release at the brewery. We had DB Huna, BA Abraxas, and DB Cake. Everyone liked the cake the most, due to balance, flavor, and drinkability. Huna was very good, but overly sweet and cloying. The Abraxas was spiced better than Huna, but still lacked the depth found in DB Cake. Just a small comparison from one group of 6-8 beer people. I would love to hear from others who end up comparing the 3.

How did you get the DB cake the night before it was released? Just curious...

We worked the release. All the workers got to sample before the release, so we could talk about it if someone asked.
