I'm going to a seminar at Mt. Vernon in VA next weekend and just realized I have 4 hours of downtime between the seminar ending and when I have to be at the airport. Are there any good bottle shops or breweries between Mt. Vernon and DCA? Beers to bring back to FL? Preferably something along US-1 since I'll be using the metro or Uber. Also maybe a good place to grab dinner before my flight.

There are a bunch of threads with info on all parts of DC in the Mid Atlantic forum.

Rustico is a beer bar/resturant off rt 1 on the way to the airport. Expensive pints but usually best tap list in Alexandria. They update the list on their website regularly.

I've heard a bottle shop on your way called UnWined is small but decent. Haven't been so maybe someone else can confirm.

What time of day will you be heading to the airport? In Alexandria you have Port City Brewing. It would be a quick uber ride from the Duke Street Metro station. They have most of their beers for sale in 6 packs. No food though, unless a food truck is there.

It'll be a Sunday, between 12-4pm. Should have left DC out of the title, come to think of it I really don't plan on venturing into the District on this trip.

Old Town Alexandria would probably be your best bet between Mt Vernon and National Airport. In addition to Port City, there is a Whole Fools close by as well. Both would have beer to go. There is also a Total Wine in the general area, but it would be a taxi/uber ride to get there. Is there anything in particular that you are looking for?

Did you find a good brewery or bottle shop on your way back to the airport? I hope you found something good to try or take home.

Next weekend, I'll probably hit up the local Whole Foods, still looking to see if there is a good bottle shop near Old Town

The best bottle shop in NoVA is Dominion Wine and Beer in Falls Church. It would probably require an Uber for you to get to, but it always has a great selection.

In Alexandria you might check out Lost Dog, they are a sandwich shop but also have a good bottle shop and some decent drafts. It's pretty close to Braddock Road Metro. To be honest I have only been to the Lost Dog's in Arlington, but I would expect the one in Alexandria would be just as good.
