Well, OP said double header so the assumption is he is looking for something near the baseball stadium.

    quickly checks website...... http://rightproperbrewery.com/menu/

Regular brews I definitely remember being reasonable, so you'd think smaller pours would be at least half which fits in that 2-3 range. Although I don't see that on the website anywhere..

but at 5 or 6 bucks a pop at RP for a full pour why bother

    Half pours are half price.

Just left bluejacket, they had BA mexican radio on tap. It's awesome. Can't taste the barrel too much but its like a milder version of huna. Very tasty for the price.

Check hours for Union, Fridays I believe are from 5 to 8. If at stadium early, it's an easy light rail ride to Woodberry and then directly up and to the right. In Camden Yards, Free State Pub (3rd base side, section 55-ish) offers 16oz MD and DE crafts for $8- 8.50. A bargain compared to 16oz Natty Boh cans for 8 bones a pop.

Going to the O's game on Tuesday night so appreciate the heads up on Free State Pub. How good is their selection?

I know, I have been there several times. There are a lot of new beer bars across the country and many of them have overshadowed the old guard. In Baltimore's case, the old guard is also the best. I haven't found anything else in town that comes close.

True I suppose, Balmer isn't my nucleus per see, I actually like Brewer's Art as a nice drink dining destination. ... but so it goes.. always lots to explore..

Last game there, they had Flying Dog, Union Craft, Heavy Seas and Dogfish Head (8 taps total). Going to tomorrow night's game, so will try to remember (good luck with that!) to get an accurate update for you.

When I lived in Bawlmore, I'd sometimes go to the Hudson St. Stackhouse, Alewife, and Mchaffey's, just to change things up a bit from time to time. I liked the owner (Wayne) and vibe at Mchaffey's, and the food at the Stackhouse and Alewife seemed to be a cut above what you'd find at Max's. The happy hour prices at the Stackhouse were pretty hard to beat as well.

Shrug. That being said, what you say is true. Nothing comes close to Max's, and as a result, I typically was going there once or twice a week during my 6 year stint in Baltimore. If you're going to the game, then you might want to give places like the metro, alewife, brewer's art or the brewer's cask a try, just because they're all relatively close to the Yard. However, getting to Max's will likely cost you no more than an additional 5 or 10 minutes, so you might as well just go there. I know I would.

Pratt Steet Ale House is also an option, but in my experience, the place tends to be packed to the gills on game day/night, so I'd avoid it.

Did Mahaffey's change their name to McHaffey's?

Yea, the BA Mexican Radio is solid. I also thought Clamor was solid as well. Was disappointed with Further. Not a very good Gose. Everything else was pretty meh. I still consider Right Proper to be the best brewery in DC by a long mile.

Every time I go to Right Proper, all the beers taste the same. They're good, but it just seems like very slight variations on the same theme. Maybe I just don't go enough.

Everyone has their own opinion but I can see where you are coming from.

In jest I like to think they follow the Tired Hands model, by making 50 different variations of the same beer (saison, IPA etc..)... in which if you were to return in a week or a month or a year you'll never find it on tap ever again

They don't all taste the same to me, but the play he does on saisons gets a little similar at times but also excessive in the variations.

I do enjoy their beers though, but it is frustrating wanting to have something you had their before and then going back never to find it around sometimes.

Hudson Street still has the best happy hour IMO. $2 off already reasonably priced drafts can't be beat!

If you're at Camden Yards on a Friday, check out the Flying Dog's Firkin Friday under the stands in right field/foul area. There's a Dogfish Head section nearby. And Heavy Seas is scattered around the ballpark.

For a nearby bar I recommend Alewife, as it's only a few blocks from the ballpark (walking distance). The other suggestions others have made are all good: Max's (huge selection), Mahaffey's (quality selection. decent prices. small, locals bar), Brewer's Art (local craft beer institution. Nice restaurant upstairs. No frills bar downstairs.). Of Love and Regret is also a favorite of mine, but it's a bit further away from downtown (small, quirky place, Stillwater ales)

As for breweries, Union Craft's tasting room is open 5:00-8:00 on Thursday and Friday. They do free tours on Saturday afternoons. Heavy Seas is another place to check out; the brewery is just south of the city limits. They also have an alehouse/restaurant east of the Inner Harbor.

    Two words: tater tots.
    :sunglasses:

Bluejacket was just fine, the beers were all pretty solid and the food was really good. It does get insanely crowded in that area when the Nats are playing so bear that in mind.

Right Proper, however, blows the doors off of pretty much every other brewpub in the area. Excellent beer, great cheese selection (we only had cheese while we were there), quirky vibe and a cool staff. Reminds me a lot of Tired Hands (the original cafe).
