I noticed the price of Corruption sixers has increased to $12.99 at TWs (from $10.99), has anyone else noticed the price increase at other shops? Did the price go up at the brewery? I thought $10.99 was a little expensive for a local brew but at $12.99 I won't be buying it again.

    They're $10 at the brewery... $13 is a rip.

Yep -- it went up a dollar at the store I work at to $13.99. With the recent VA tax increase it's almost $15 total. It's a good beer, and it's a good bet it's almost always fresh, but there are better options for cheaper.

Capital Beer in Bethesda charges $12.99, but then this is Montgomery County - not sure what the excuse in NoVa is.

I noticed this about a month ago, and yeah also major turnoff for me. It's not my favorite IPA anyway, though if you make the brewery trip on Saturdays OTWOA and 'pyramids' are both more my speed.

Blame the 3 tier system. The brewery has never changed their price on this beer, ever.

They also have no control over what retailers charge.

Trader Joes still has it at $10.

Clarendon had a few cases of Citizen and Corruption for $10 a 6 pack.

I was just at TW Alexandria and saw that Corruption was now at 12.99. I did a triple take. That's a steep increase. TW doesn't change their margins, and above someone said that it wasn't an increase from DC Brau. That leaves one culprit...

I bought a six pack at Rodmans this week. IIRC, it was around $12 before taxes. Once I got a hold of a really fresh Corruption, I realized what a damned good brew it is. Now that DC Brau is affixing the canned date sticker on the six pack holder, I always pick it up when it's fresh.

The thing that really pisses me off, however, is that I've noticed a lot of the canned date stickers have been intentionally scratched off so you can't tell how fresh it is. I've seen that at a few places including Whole Foods where literally every sticker had been scratched off which makes it seem like someone is trying to hide something. I certainly don't think DC Brau would do that as it's pretty much counter to the whole idea. That leaves the distributor or the stores. Hmmm.....

One would think that a beer brewed locally would be cheaper - and one would be wrong.

This times a million. I was so glad to see those, but a ton of them were scratched off at TW Alexandria. It's in a massive case stack, which leads me to believe that it was sent in awhile ago and someone doesn't want to see the date. It's a shame, really.

I've seen those guys at the brewery work. They have the right amount of people to get the job done. Aint no one got time to put stickers on and then rip them off again. Besides beer never stays there very long.

My guess is that it's someone at Fail & Wine.

At Westover Market a few days ago, I saw that many of the stickers on 6 packs of The Corruption (I think) were taken off, and a handful had just the *year* removed.

It was... disconcerting to think that it may have been >1 year old beer.

It's only been 6 or so months that they have been stamping dates on their beer. Not too much before that, they started with the white pack-tech snap on 6 pack holders. So at the most, they would be 9mos old with no date sticker.

Being in a can should improve the shelf life though.
