If it's been refrigerated the whole time, it should be OK.

One month? Try one minute. If they don't hire scantily clad women in DC Brau cheerleader outfits to pour beer directly out of the brite tanks into my mouth, it's too old.

That's what I would assume. It would be nice if they got the rest of their cans out there (PQP, El Hefe), but I'm sure they have plans and know what they are doing. I think there are a lot of local (DC, VA, MD) craft beer drinkers that pass DC Brau aside because there have only really been three options (and PQP bombers) on the shelves for a while without anything new to spark interest.

I'll tell you what though, Public is my go-to beer whenever I want "a beer". It's pretty refreshing, really accessible, isn't too floral, too malty, and is pretty well balanced.

That said, I went to Grape + Bean in Alexandria, and they had cans of El Hefe Speaks for sale, memorial day weekend, and I know I've seen cans of PQP at Total Wine on LRTPK.

I purchased both El Hefe and PQP cans from a local store, so they have distributed them but I am guessing it's not much. Also, pretty sure they don't distribute to MD (if they do, it just started happeneing recently).

Ah, excellent news. I suppose they are already making their way into market then.

I guess you hang out with different drinkers than I do. I drink DC Brau all the time. When I'm at a bar and the selection is decent (or worse), I always order Corruption. Open my fridge right now and I've got recent cans of Corruption, Public and PQP. If I go to a BBQ, I'm bringing El Hefe. All of those beers (with the exception of El Hefe, IMHO) are exceptional. I don't need a brewery pumping out new releases of questionable quality every other week (see: Baying Hound, Evolution, Port City (yeah I said it), Lost Rhino (yeah I said that too)). Give me a consistent product that's above average compared to the competition and I'll support the local business every time.

    OTWOA didn't spark new interest?

Heady Topper reaches its prime at 10 weeks apparently, so I think five weeks on Wings is still fairly young.

(No reason not to have scantly-clad Brau cheerleaders thrown in the mix though.)

Says who? The folks at the Alchemist? I hope this was sarcasm, and if it was, you got me.

Well, you got me. But seriously, John is talking about a matter of taste. He says it himself, if you want it bright and fresh and green, then sooner is better. I think *most* people who seek out double IPAs are looking for something bright and green. I know I am.

My opinion is HT drops off significantly after a couple of weeks. Wings too...

May 1st OTWOA is still drinking nicely. I'd be hard pressed to find significant differences between that beer now and that beer back in early May.

I was referring more to the casual craft beer drinker who may be in DC Brau's limited distro region but doesn't keep up with brewery-only/limited releases or chase them down. If they are just shopping at a store, the choices have mostly been limited.

I picked up a six at the brewery this weekend and it was canned 5/22. May be the same batch but different canning date, regardless I am drinking one as I type and it is just as fantastic as always.
