I'm staying downtown, specifically in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, at the end of September.
It's essentially a guys weekend trip, so nothing family oriented.

Looked through and found that Meridian Pint was the biggest recommendation for the Columbia Heights area. Looking for more options in addition to MP.
Any other bars with good to great beers? Any good sports bars for college football/NFL?
Any good bottle shops to hit nearby?

The group will definitely hit Churchkey as well during this trip.
I'm familiar with Craft Beer Cellar on H St, but it's a bit of a hike.
I live close to DC, but I hardly venture out there, so there have to be some DC residents on here who can help with some recommendations close to the Columbia Heights neighborhood.

    Thanks in advance.

Go to Right Proper's brewpub in nearby Shaw (T Street)

Meridian Pint is great. In Adams Morgan, you could hit Smoke&Barrel for great beers, Roofer's Union for good beers and rooftop, and Jack Rose for bourbon. For sports, I was going to suggest Prospect on U St, but apparently that has closed permanently. Better options are around the CapOne Arena; Penn Social, Penn Commons, City Tap House, High Velocity (in the Marriott).

Thanks guys. I saw that High Velocity had a great taplist but wasn't sure of the atmosphere.

I've been a couple of times and it was fairly quiet, it got busy but not very rowdy. The numerous TVs were nice. *I also just saw that Prospect is actually reopening for football season.

Columbia Heights is not downtown. If you already know about Meridian Pint and Churchkey, you are on the right track. Though it's small, D'Vines is probably the best bottle shop in Columbia Heights.

The Partisan has the best selection near CapOne

I fully agree that they have the best beers in that area, but I wouldnt call it good for football watching, since they only have two smaller TVs and a chill mood.

D'Vines and Odd Provisions are both decent bottle shops in that neighborhood.

And, yeah, that's not downtown, but it's pretty close.

Lou's City (Shitty) Bar is a pretty big sports bar with decent beers right near the CoHi Metro.

But let's be real, MP is your best bet by a large margin.
