That used to be the case (and Speedway for the stouts), but I believe they started brewing their own base beers a few years back now.

Looks like there's been a Bissell drop (Substance, Preserve & Protect) in NOVA today.

I saw Instagram posts from Arrowine and Brew Shop. Substance and Preserve and Protect.

Saw Brew Shop posted it yesterday. Went to Dominion by mistake, thinking they posted it. FML. They're probably 4 or 5 miles apart. A lifetime in traffic at 6 pm.

K-1 had them, but they were only selling singles.

ps-for whomever is looking for it, K-1 also had Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Narwhal.

There were a couple 4 packs of Substance left at The Brew Shop today. I didn't see P&P. I was there to pick up some lagers so I did not contribute to its disappearance.

Another Glen's PSA - they have Painkiller Jream on for $18 growler fills and are now getting Aslin kegs that they're filling growlers of as well.

Hey, everyone. I just moved up here and wanted to know how Aslin bottle releases typically play out. Herndon is my local spot, so what time do I need to show up by for special bottle releases? If it is a "line up early" kinda deal, is there typically a line share? Thanks in advance.

I think that, for something like this Saturday, you'll definitely need to be in line before opening. I'm not really the authority though since I don't do the line thing. I believe any time they have barrel aged bottle stouts, if you arrive at opening or later (to get in the line), you're pretty much out of luck.

Dominion Wine and Beer has these 2 now - grabbed some of both this afternoon.

There is an Aslin specific thread in the South-Atlantic forum. It is definitely a line up early for the BA bottles as stated.

For this weekend? People will be in line for hours before opening. Hard to say exactly what time you would need to be there since they haven't released case counts and Herndon gets less than Alexandria (though it is 1/pp across the board).

I believe the last major bottle release you had to be there by 9 but someone could correct me on that.

Changes on the horizon for Ellicott Mills Brewing Co in Ellicott City MD. Rumors have been swirling since Gordon Ramsey has shown up to film on site for his latest show. The new name will be the Phoenix Brewing Co.

The historic building is in the same location in the historic town. They have been plagued with natural disasters but have survived. The vibe, food and service has always been positive but the beer less inspiring. Details on the changes are sketchy maybe due to agreements with Ramsey.

Ellicott Mills was bought by the owner of the Phoenix Emporium, a bar restaurant which was bought by the county and will be razed for their flood mitigation plan. Not sure how Ramsey's makeover will alter plans. IMO Anything done will help the beer, as for the last 10 years or so their beer has been mediocre at best, except for Marzhon, which is above average.

Anyone have any experience with Bloody Chainsaw Brewing? Their stuff has great reviews on UT, albeit with very small sample sizes. Just saw they were opening a membership and was intrigued...

It's been about a year since I got anything from him but I've had a few of his beers in varying styles and they have all been fantastic. The guy knows what he's doing. He's a homebrewer and just recently began getting the ball rolling with seeing if there's interest in a legit commercial operation is my understanding. If you follow his brewery pages on IG or FB he'll post when he has bottles available. Just DM him and he'll ship you out bottles for a "donation" if they have not all been claimed.

Jeff from Bloody Chainsaw is a great dude and a great brewer. He no longer does the beer for donation thing, though you might be able to acquire some bottles if you reach out.

I'll echo these thoughts. Everything from Jeff I've been lucky enough to try has been outstanding. Some family and I did a side-by-side with his vanilla BBA RIS, Prairie Vanilla Noir, and High Westified Victory at Sea, and the Bloody Chainsaw entry finished first or second in all our opinions. Genuinely mind-blowing to come across homebrew like that.
