Hope you can help with a question or two about OH. What's the parking situation like? Is food available? Is Atlas within an easy walk?

I’ve enjoyed all my recent DC OH beers after not liking much early, with the exception of the Ivy City lager which was fine but definitely not worth the premium price point. Boxcar was better but there’s still so much good lager in the city it didn’t stand out.

All nice to know if a bit anecdotal, but not sure you answered any of the questions.

Backpacking with Nelson is excellent. IPA collab between Front Royal Brewing and Dominion.

There's a parking garage. First 2 hours are free. Food trucks on weekends and a couple of restaurants across the street that will deliver. I haven't been to Atlas in years, but it's just around a very unscenic block.

Travelling to DC for a Sunday later in the month. Any word on The Sovereign? Would love to have a few there. If not, besides Churchkey... where else is there? (Would rather have belgians and lagers than hazies)

May I give a strong recommendation to Shelter at The Roost.

Shorter list but super strong, good food from all the vendors, nice emphasis on lager and Belgians. It’s pricey, but so are the other NRG places.

Shelter is amazing. Having a side-pulled german lager on a hot day is A++++

    plus many good food options

Will be visiting DC next week and wanted to check up on the current beer places. Last time I was there was back in 2017 and I had a great time at ChurchKey and Sovereign, but I guess those are still closed. I remember Pizza Paradiso and Meridian Pint (?) had some good stuff too.

I know Other Half has an outpost there now and a friend also recommended Shelter. Anywhere else I should check out?

Now that places are opening up more, we are trying to add to our new (to us) farmhouse breweries to visit. One place near the top of the list is Brookeville Beer Farm but there are not many reviews here on BA. Any recommendations on this specific brewery? Thumbs up, thumbs down, neutral?

I gotta say Right Proper and Port City continue to impress in ways that aren’t super trendy (maybe port city now that lagers are getting some shine).

    second the cafe berlin recommendation.

mussels and fries (sometimes you have to ask them to fry them crispy) at Granville Moore’s is maybe my favorite overall beer experience in the city (always some great classic Belgians on tap).

I haven't been since pre-covid, so not sure how much of this is true today.

The beer is average/decent with a good style selection. They have a full food menu and even some to go market type items, but I don't remember the food or if I even ate there. The experience is very family friendly on weekends: open field with picnic tables, lots of kids running around, etc. I say it feels more like a picnic area than a farmhouse brewery. I have also sat at the bar inside, and it felt like a restaurant more than a brewery. All in all, I wouldn't go out of my way unless you are looking for a kid friendly place, but if you are visiting the other breweries out that way, it's probably worth checking out.

As far as farmhouse breweries within two hours of DC, I'd rate them:

    1. Wheatland Spring
    2. Elder Pine
    3. Pen Druid

    4. Everything else (is skippable)

Powers Farm Brewery is good. I also enjoy B Chord and Cedar Run Brewing. Only been to Lost Barrel once, but enjoyed some their offerings. Some of the others are certianly better than skipable.

I really need to get out to Cedar Run at some point.

B Chord is a fun place to see live music. The beer I tried was on par with other local breweries, way over priced but guess I that's to be expected in this area.

Anyone know if the Horus beers are still up at OH DC or did they kick yesterday? They were announced but are conspicuously missing from the OH DC Untappd page.

Hm, that would be lousy if they already kicked when those beers are advertised for all weekend. I know that some are bound to kick before the end of the weekend, but to have one of the featured brewery's beers go on day 1 kind of sucks. I'm headed there this afternoon so I can update.
