Having had most of my Dovetail now - they're excellent, but if anything it's really underscored how lucky we are to have Wheatland Spring and Port City around here for lagers. My order was well worth the treat (especially for the Pils & Rauchbier) but I'll probably stick with the local options for the time being, for support and price point. The PC Dunkel and Wheatland Alberto in my fridge now will certainly suffice.

FWIW I'd say Triple Crossing is also easily on that level (better, to my taste, but by degree), so worth keeping an eye out for when they ship up here unless you catch The Bruery or someone pulling some cans in, for local-ish.

focus on getting one stored cold. Take a 3 month old stored cold over a 2 month warm all day every day

Very good point. Most groceries store a SNPA 12pk cold, so does Total Wine. But all the dates are still 3 months out from what I have experienced. I’ll keep hunting, but usually that’s where I look first, in the cooler are, hopefully I can find a closer date. I am even going to try Walmart this weekend for the first time in over a decade. But about 10 years ago, when I would go there to get dog food, my experience was the SNPAs did not move.

In case anyone hasn't heard, Hudson Valley is now shipping to DC and Virginia. I've only had one prior opportunity to try their brews, at a bottle share (lawdy, I miss those) something like two years ago, and they left me thoroughly impressed. I ordered 4-packs of Ultrasphere, Holy Icon, and Graven Image today, and shipping was $20. I think I could have added more to my cart without upping the shipping fee, but I have too much beer as it is and have no business ordering more. Very excited about this. It seems few breweries can do sour IPAs well, but the three HV cans I tried years ago knocked it out of the park by my tastes.

Thanks, I've been wanting to try their sours for a while. Seems like getting 6 4-packs is the best shipping option @ $25 unless you want to order a lot (anything above 9 4-packs was $60, carted 24 4-packs, still $60).

Virginia is reportedly getting the same on Monday, and the new NRG spot, Shelter, is hosting the DC launch party on Thursday.

Switching gears a bit, has anyone had Wheatland Spring Farm and what are your thoughts?

That’s great news! I loved 3 Floyd’s beer when I visited a few years ago.

It's become my favorite brewery in the area. Their lagers are killer and are getting better. I've had overall good, but some mixed experiences with their mixed fermentation stuff. I have more of those to try. Stouts and IPAs have been solid but I'm usually not there to drink those. Obviously, a little premium on the price point, but I love the beer as well as the vibe when I visit.

They have become my go-to. Partially because of the free delivery in NOVA if you buy a case, and their really excellent lager program. I've enjoyed their IPAs as well, their current one River + Flood is Strata and great. It's also really nice to be able to direct support a local brewery in these times.

I've ordered from them about once a month since October. My favorite so far was their pilsner Found Artifacts. If that comes back that will be a whole case for me.

Yes! I remember when they got pulled from shelves in LA ~15 years ago right after I moved there and I’ve been interested in having them available locally ever since
