Tastes change over time with trying so many new beers but I have heard things aren’t what they used to be over there.

Do you foresee another Space Dust situation?

I'd love to check them out but unfortunately I am outside of the 30 minutes $6 delivery radius and I want a couple of those bottles in addition to cans so the free case delivery is out. Basically $16 to pick them up or $19 to ship UPS.

Never had that beer, but from what I know AB-Inbev changed the recipe after buyout.

I used to live in Chicago when Zombie Dust hit the scene. I've had it pretty much every year since then in trades or traveling somewhere. The last few times I've had it, it didn't taste as good to me anymore. It could be palate shift, QC, or maybe recipe change. Who knows. They have never given the impression that they care that much about their product, and have made some very questionable business decisions over the years.

I will definitely pick some up if I see it around. But would easily pass if it's over a month old. It drops off a cliff after a few weeks.

Same thoughts. Zombie Dust blew me away when I first had it at the brewery around 2011. Now I get it a few times a year since my girlfriend's family lives in Indiana, and it is... very underwhelming. Not sure how it still holds the #1 APA spot, but it could just be palate shift on my part. Don't sleep on Gumballhead, though-- a nice session beer that I usually buy instead of ZD. Interesting that Dreadnaught is showing up here-- I can never find that in Indiana!

I remember really liking Space Dust when I first had it, and saying it could be a regular buy for me if I could get it locally. Now it just sits on the shelf getting old at Safeway.

No, I just edited my post, it is 2/18/21, don’t think that is going to make any difference... And to think that was one of the breweries I wanted to revisit ...

When people talk about brewery takeovers, I just roll my eyes, because Lagunitas, Devil’s Backbone (to name just two off the top of my head), continued to make decent beers. This is one of the greatest drop offs in brewery history, I mean the beers are no different from Bud...

ps-I just had four of their beers... :slight_frown:

Had a couple Zombie Dust cans tonight. Pretty good. A nice change of pace from other hazy stuff i've been drinking lately. However, It's pretty much on par with my experiences with the beer in the past 5 years or so. It's missing a bit of that Citra character that I used to love about it. I thought I read a while back that it's no longer 100% Citra, and has Amarillo in it now. But I don't think that's it.

I used to obsess over this beer, it really tasted that good to me. Maybe I've changed? I think both the beer and I have changed. I will still pick it up again because I don't think the novelty of being able to walk a few blocks to pickup friggin' Zombie Dust cans will get old soon...

Yeah, I regularly feel the need for a change of pace from the haze, but nothing tastes the way I remember it.

Maybe because I haven’t had it before but I thought it was excellent. Maybe not world class but still something I will continue to buy if it’s available fresh
