Welp, it's that time of year again! Bourbon County 2015 release time that is! Post your Bourbon County bottle/tap sightings in the DMV here, folks. Figured it deserves its own thread.

Anybody know of any new spots getting BCBS or variants that didn't last year?

I'm wondering how the new bottle format will affect demand and supply post-Black Friday around here, personally.

    Last year's thread: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...d-bourbon-county-stout-spottings-2014.223167/

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm new to DC and was going to post an inquiry re: what to expect for Bourbon County releases in the area.

Can you/anybody shine a line on what the area saw last year? Basically looking for a summary of the full thread you linked to . I live right in the city and will certainly be on the lookout for the BC releases this year. Cheers!

I probably plan to buy less this year because of the new format. The 4-pk is much more friendly to opening one without needing a special occasion to open. This significantly limits my interest in purchasing a significant amount.

I'll let others provide clarification/corrections, but here is how it played out last year. With the new bottle format all bets are off so I didn't even list limits. For store specifics, hit up the thread in my original post. I'll let the experts comment on potential 2015 release timing!

    2014 Allocations
DC: Regular, Vanilla, Coffee, Barleywine (vanilla was a ghost)
NoVA: Regular, Coffee, Barleywine (limited variants)
    MD: Regular, Barleywine

    2014 Store Release Timing
    11/24: HoCo, Germantown, Laurel
    11/25: Woodbridge
11/27 (T-giving): Lake Manassas, Woodbridge, Clarksburg, MD
11/28 (Black Friday): DC, NoVa, MD Eastern Shore
    12/1 - 12/10: Various DC stores

You hit the nail on the head. Totally wished I had stockpiled more when it was in the four pack format.

Usually breweries become more user-friendly by moving high abv bombers to a four pack format. AB-Inbev is taking us in the other direction....

Looks like I'll be arriving in DC (Union Station) by train at about 7am on Black Friday. I'd love to quickly grab some BCBS/Variants nearby. Any suggestions? Thx.

Sweet, we need a thread for this.

I can't speak for DC, but can for baltimore area.
I'm assuming whole foods in DC will definitely get some.

Here is where i found some last year on black friday and i'm sure will have some this year.

    Total Wine in towson
    Pinehurst Wine Shoppe (growler fills)
    Wells Discount Liquors.

Some stores in the area will probably sell early, but we could speculate about that for days.

I know that Perfect Pour and Total wine in laurel and Alexandria will probably get both regular and Barleywine for sure.

Perfect Pour has the highest potential for Coffee and Regal Rye

Don't bother with Petite Cellars. They'll tell you they aren't getting any and then sell it next year for $18.99/bottle. In case anyone's looking, they have 2014 right now for $9.97/bottle!

Schneider's on Massachusetts Ave is about 2 blocks from Union Station. They are supposedly having a Black Friday Bourbon County release party with most variants and Goose Island representatives on hand. Not sure what time that will start though.

I'm not going to be here on Black Friday, so I'm about to blow this up big-time. As far as I know, 6 cases of Vanilla were allocated to stores in DC last year. Those stores were: Whole Foods P St., Rodman's, Magruders, Connecticut Ave., Schneider's, and one mystery store I never figured out. Conn. Ave. and Schneider's never put them on the shelf and instead sold them only to their regulars, and Magruders had a list that was likely filled up months in advance. That means the only stores you could actually go to on Black Friday and buy a bottle of Vanilla without any previous work were Whole Foods and Rodman's. I gave it a go at Rodman's and didn't get there early enough for Vanilla, but I got plenty of the other stuff at least!

I already mentioned this in the WF thread, but it's looking like Schneiders is going to get a good portion of the brews and definitely the variants. Remains to be seen.

Schneider's opened early last year on Black Friday. By the time their regular opening time came around (10am) all coffee and BW were solid out, save 1 bottle of BW which I bought. If you're going to Schneider's this year, might want to go early.

There was a line by 6am at wf p St last year. I would expect the same or worse for Schneider's this year since they've been advertising it.

The list at Magruders got started a couple weeks ago. I was in there last week and there were only 4 people on it. I haven't been in there as frequently of late and Joel seemed a bit hesitant to even tell me about it. So, you probably have to be a pretty regular customer to get on there this year.

Might it be easier and cheaper to just fly to Chicago? :stuck_out_tongue:
