Any insight into what stores will be getting variants? Anyone know what is being sent to DC and Northern Va?

Rodmans posted that they will have all variants, but no real clues to quantity of each. Have heard elsewhere that reg and bw should be plentiful. Coffee and Northwoods will be pretty limited

DC has been (and will continue to be) the place to be for NoVA BCBS hunters. NoVA will continue to get screwed on variants. So if you want anything other than Regular and Barleywine, plan to be downtown.

I'd check Schneider's, they usually get in the variants.

Total Wine had Coffee last year, but you had to be in line early to get it.

Any suggestions for MD? I've seen Gilly's and Lighthouse post about it. Anybody else I should look out for? I would assume Downtown Crown, but haven't seen them mention anything yet socially.

Downtown Crown sends out a newsletter via email that had details. 10am release on Friday, 96 bottles of regular, 1 per customer.

As posted earlier, DC is the best bet for variants, but if you can't make it out of MD, Howard County seems to have received the best allocation of variants the last couple years. Montgomery County really isn't worth it. Limits are usually 1 or 2 bottles of regular per person and are almost always marked up a decent amount. I think people were reporting $15 per bottle of regular in Moco last year.

Why would anyone line up for regular? It's all over the place for weeks, if not months.

Maybe at a few places down near DC. Up around Baltimore it's in and out

Because they've never heard of it, but Esquire, Fortune, and Forbes Magazines told them they just HAVE to get it on Black Friday, and they're not one to miss out damnit!

Because they are hoping there will be variants and didn't think to ask employees ahead of time, and are unaware of the forums on this site?

Harry's Reserve Fine Wine & Spirits will have reg, coffee, bw and northwoods. Don't know the exact qtys...Union Pub will also be tapping '16/'17 reg, coffee, bw and northwoods @10am.

    Good luck y'all!

looks like Whole foods H street has 16/'17 reg, coffee, bw and northwoods as "up next" on their tap list. Haven't heard about bottles but seems likely given the tap list and having hosted the goose island event a few months back.

So can I expect to find regular sitting on shelves tomorrow for the taking? It’s my first Black Friday in the area (I’m in Chevy Chase visiting family) so I have no idea what to expect. In SE Michigan, you pretty much have to line up even to get Regular. On the other hand, I know it sits by the case-full for months in NYC. Where does DC fall on that continuum? Any tips on where to go if I don’t care about variants and just want 4-6 botttles or so of Regular?

If you don't care about variants, Magruder's on Connecticut Avenue and Rodman's on Wisconsin close to you will likely have it. Also, all the places upthread will probably have regular on shelf for a while, especially Schneiders and Whole Foods P st. It often appears at Harris Teeter downtown within a day or two, and drops many other places sometime the following week.
