Heading to DC in late August with my family. Will be staying around H Street Corridor. Other than Blue Jacket are there any must see breweries in the area? Also, any must see bottleshops? I am an IPA lover. I love all beer, but that is my drink of choice. Cheers
Craft Beer Cellar on H St. is an obvious choice for bottleshops nearby. Schneider's is also nearby and has a decent selection. Eatbar on Barracks Row always has nice taplist and isnt terribly far from that area. RIght Proper is probably one of the best DC breweries and has a nice brewpub. Aslin has an outdoor bar right outside of the Nationals Park on game days if you time it with your Bluejacket visit. Salt Line there also has had Other Half somewhat regularly
I agree with @polopaul20 on Right Proper for best brewpub. Of course there is Churchkey, usually considered a must see (noting here that none of what I am suggesting is all that centrally located to your hotel, I don't think). Beyond that, there's options that I wouldn't consider "must see," but if you want other considerations with time: I'd also consider one of the Pizzeria Paradiso locations and/or Sovereign (if you like Belgians, run by the same group that runs Churchkey and Bluejacket) - both exist in Georgetown. For breweries specifically, DC Brau is the OG, but it's a production brewery - you can grab plastic cups of what they have on tap, though. Atlas is near them (also fairly production in their taproom as of last time I went). Three Stars isn't a bad place, mixing production with an okay place to enjoys a few beers. Hope this helps a little at least (I don't know any bottle shops in DC).
For bottle shops in your area, I'd recommend CBC and Harry's. A combo visit to the Navy Yard hits could be a good way to spend an afternoon and have something to take home: BlueJacket / Aslin Beer Garden / Salt Line / All Purpose Pizza / Harry's.
This sounds like a good move. I am going to a Brewers vs. Nats game when I go. Sounds like I could make my whole day down there. To be sure - the only place to get Aslin cans is at the brewery, correct? Thanks for all of the advice guys!
