Have fun! I wish I could go to the Cigar City/Surly event (I really want to try CCB Leon and Surly Pentagram!) but my wife is on Spring Break and invited guests over. We'll be there on Wednesday (Chicago/NC takeover) for sure!

I'm not saying DC isn't a place you can find lots of great beer, and yes, the lack of distribution laws helps in this. I worked in DC for the past 2 years and was always on the lookout for great beer, and it can be very hard to find. The laws work in favor of doing some wonderful special events, but for every day beer-drinking, the bars are mostly just not up to par with what I'm used to up here in Philly.

I don't think people forget about the area when they discuss the best beer cities in the U.S. It's just as likely that they, like me, find it lacking in great beer bars.

Is the CBC always in DC or does it move to a different city each year? If only my spring break had been this week, and not the week before. I live in Baltimore, but have college classes until 5 or 6 every night. Ugh, I think it would be more of a hassle to make it into DC by that time. If I did, I would probably park at CP and take the subway into town. Never been to any bar in DC but I hear Churchkey and Meridian (sounds a bit expensive though) are great.

True, the out of market brews usually come with a stiff mark-up, but I figure it's less hassle than trading for it. Still, I don't mind paying $20 for a bottle of Marshall Zukov or $5-6 per can for Surly Abrasive, etc. every once in a while, especially considering the price to actually drive to the city. I think other stuff readily distributed to the area is reasonably priced, depending where you shop.

Event at Churchkey last night was pure heaven. Luckily scored a table at 6:30.

Leon, Pentagram, Furious, Abrasive, Maui Ginger, Greaves, JAI Alai Cedar...too many...head hurts today but worth it.

Don't forget SLOambic - that might have been my favorite of the bunch. Snack Attack is a great Blue Jacket collaboration that I hope becomes a regular in the rotation.

My only hope is that Bluejacket doesn't turn into the "Duke Nukem Forever" of craft beer bars.

Got there just before 6 last night, and scored a couch! (In fact, the back room was barely occupied.) Maybe take a walk around?

nah, there were no seats at the bar obviously, so if I don't get a seat I leave unless I happen to be with a group or something. I'll try again tomorrow, if I can get my but into work early so that I can be there when they open at 4... but ... sigh... work...

Got there at exactly 4 and scored the last table. When I left about 5 there was a line down the stairs to the door because it looked like they were at capacity. Lots of awesome stuff but if you can't get there early I would just go on a normal week when they have crazy stuff but less of a wait.

I wish I still were. Took the Cicerone Exam this morning and had some beers at Meridian Pint before heading over there. I never thought I"d say it but I'm beer'd out!

Hoping to hit a couple events later in the week - FFF/Surly on Thursday at Paradiso Dupont, and the Drink Local even on Friday at Meridian Pint.
