Some of you folks are making me jealous and others of you are making me scared. I guess I'll still brave this thing tomorrow night. I plan on getting there early for some Event Horizon!

Nice! Heading there this summer on vacay and can't wait! My only problem: Sneakily trying to convince my wife that this is not a "beer" vacation.

    Yessir, almost forgot that one.

By 8pm tables were a plenty and beer was still flowing...maybe because it was Monday?

Was also crazy the amount of brewers and reps there...weyerbacher guys, greenflash girls, obv brandon from DC Brau and more.

Where The Bruery guys there too? I saw a cohort of Bruery hoodies in the back. Just curious.

The brewers in town are like roving street gangs that, instead of 9mm and .22's, they carry 22oz's.

I'll be downtown in about an hour or two. Gotta get into position at Churchkey before the tickers come out.

ChurchKey got a little crazier last night than I had anticipated. I got there about 5:10 and I was the 4th or 5th person in line on the stairs. I didn't have to wait too long to get in (maybe 5 minutes), but then it took about another 20 minutes to get a beer, and I'm sure it would've taken even longer if I hadn't had friends who were already sitting at the bar helping me out. Fortunately I got to try a bunch of awesome saisons eventually. The Hill Farmstead Arthur and Vera Mae were the first beers to kick, around 6. Everything else was still on when I left around 7, but there was still a sizeable line down the stairs to get in. If they had that sort of demand for a saison night, I'm terrified to see what happens tonight with 3 Floyds and the Chicago breweries.

I hear ya bro. That's why the wife and I are heading down there within the hour. I'm on a mission. As long as I get to try at least event Horizon and the collab DIPA, I'll consider the day a success. Setting the bar for the actual enjoyment of the drinking experience pretty low.

I was thinking of stopping by... but it was too early to show up....

My timing and karma for this week is really ALL OUT of gas, I got nothing left.... :flushed:

disclaimer: Luckily though I've had CBS on tap

Wow, I completely glazed over CBS when I looked at the list for this event. Now I'm even more upset I'm stuck in class tonight and not at MP, Churchkey or somewhere equally awesome.

Was kicked around 4:15. It tasted really weird/off, another BA member started a tread about it. Def disappointing.

After leaving Churchkey, we went to an awesome Bruery event over at Pizza Paradiso. Here is me with Patrick Rue.

Also, I met Barnaby Struve, VP and head brewer of FFF! Even though I'm a product of the Chicago area (wife and I are both from the region and I'm an IU grad), it's still one of my all-time favorite breweries!

I got as far as the front door of CKBB last night, then I just turned around and headed up the street to Black Cat for the Pietasters/DC Brau/SKA Brewing event. I'm not the biggest fan of lines.

The Vanilla Bean Taster's Choice cask was pretty awesome. It was like drinking a glass of breakfast.

It was bizarre. I arrived at 4:15 but there was a line of about 20-30 people which I thought was odd cause I couldn't tell if they opened yet. I asked the door guy and he said yeah. I had my back turned for only 5 minutes and then the line was gone, so I thought there still might be room inside. I locked my bike up, watched about 10+ more people go in, got to the top and it was nuts inside. I asked the door guy if there were any seats in the back and he said no.

I had my helmet and bags full so it would have just been a pain so I left.

If you are going to CK this week you pretty much have to be there before the doors open. I really wanted to be there on Tuez for Arthur and Wed for 3Floyds and some Foothills, but I had the worst luck.

I am debating going tonight even though there isnt a brew I am desperate try, or just hitting Pizza Paradiso Dupont instead (where I
Met Thorpe for the first time). I am not sure what 3fsthey will have or when, but I know they will be there.

I ll be in curious to see what the taplist at Ck looks like on Monday after everyone has departed.

Got to Smoke and Barrel last night at 7PM and somehow Cherry Rye was still on. Bar wasn't even crowded. What a beer!

So sorry about your bad luck. I think you are right in that there will be some leftovers once everyone leaves. Heck, they still had some saisons from the previous night that hadn't kicked yet.

It was crazy and I'm glad my wife and I got there early. Both Dreadnaught and Zombie Dust lasted about 1.5 hours before kicking. Between the two of us, we pretty much got to sample everything we wanted to. My favorites: Event Horizon (exceeded my expectations) and Duck Rabbitt BB Baltic Porter. I was slightly disappointed with Fistcal Cliff (FFF/Half Acre/Revolution/Bluejacket collab), but Annica (FFF/Half Acre collab) was money! A lot of my friends showed up which was a pleasant surprise, so I decided not to do much ticking. I just wanted to enjoy their company and some great brews.

I've had Zombie Dust lots of times but never on draft. I'm thinking DC is probably the only place outside of Indiana and Illinois that could have made that happen.
