I still have no idea how that lasted so long! So worth the walk over from DuPont for it.

Hey dude. It was great meeting (and talking beer) with you at the front of the line yesterday afternoon. I was the fool in the black suit. Event Horizon was freaking off the charts! I had a full snifter while I sampled everything else. Fistcal Cliff--meh. Annica for me--decent. The 3 FFFs Panzer-spectacular. NoDa Imperial Coco Loco was unreal. Mystery Brewing--Fawkes? Great great beer. Anyway, I can't wait for another beer fest / conference to come back to town. DC has really done it up right! Wish I could get back down there today and tomorrow. The leftovers alone will be amazing I'm sure. Cheers!

Dude, it was totally cool to meet you last night. What an event, huh? BTW, Thanks for the tip on the NoDa Imperial Coco Loco. I tried that on your suggestion and then recommended it all night to the people around us. Everyone dug it!

I'll have that first two minutes once they let people in forever etched in my brain. When I sat down and the server handed me that crazy beer menu and took my order, it was truly one of those "The world is all mine!" moments that I'll never forget. Heck, I haven't even seen a regionally saturated menu like that at Hopleaf in Chicago.

I truly want to call out the awesome service at Churchkey. I had this vision in my head before I arrived that the servers were going to be running around all over the place, stressed out, with very little interaction or attention, and playing the role of cattle herders. Quite the opposite transpired. They seemed to be really enjoying themselves as well, lots of smiles and high fives, and knowledgable and fun beer talk with all customers. They realized that it was going to be a crazy night and were prepared for it on so many levels, but that didn't seem to phase them one bit.

Hope to see you around town on the beer circuit!

Anyone get in to Pizzeria Paradiso tonight? I drove by there after the All About Beer "30 Under 30" event, and it was totally insane! I saw at least a hundred people outside in line, and another 50-ish inside.

(There was also quite a line at CK too, even though it was after 7. Thought the crowd would've died down by then.)

Paradiso was pretty packed for the Bruery event last night but not unmanageable. I can't imagine tonight though!

So jealous. I didn't know they were going to have some of those rarities that they didn't have last night (ex. Space Station, Permanent Funeral, etc.). I wish they had brought "Blot Out the Sun," which is basically an Imperial version of their awesome "Black Sun (RIP..... tear)." Had that two months ago at the brewery and it was mind-blowing. Can't wait to hear some of the recaps of the event.

    Cheers!

I am typing up my reviews... plus I have to add in the things I had a CK tonight...

So yeah I did make it into CK... I had no emergency this time so I got there with plenty of time. 5th person in line, saw Ed a familiar face (if you don't know who Ed is you need to). Long story short.

Got in no problem, and it didn't get busy till maybe??? 5? When I left at 5:30 (yeah I cut out) there was a small line waiting to get in. S

However, there were pro and cons. The taplist for tonight was not as exciting, but there were some neat things. What was cool though was I was SHOCKED yes shocked I tell you, at the prices! they were LOW!! litteraly some sample tasters were 2-4 dollars and I didn't see a regular pint pour over 9. This is unheard of so much kudos for CK on that call.

Still I only had a few highlights then. Bourbon Barreled Narwhal is very nice, also I had a great aromatic Gose from Trophy brewing (Rose Gose)

This is truly the best rosemary beer I have ever had the pleasure of bouquet enjoying.

But there were some odd duds. Dayman collab, really didn't smell or taste that much of coffee to me, Mrs. Pigman from Tired Hands while impressive was just too sweet for my tastes, and Ruination w habenero out of the cask was a big disappointment. In fact 2 other guys I was with both had that and we were like what is wrong? Where is the chili pepper on this? It didn't even taste like Ruination :slight_frown:

Still it was a pretty good day. I wont post all the photos up, they are in my account, but I'll leave it at that. I need to type up my reviews, but I've been up since 6 AM today... I gotta call it a night, I'll type this up maybe later.

I will be at Meridian Pint for sure tomorrow, I should be good for that, and I am PUMPED to get my hands on some Orange Whip (you elusive Mad Fox brews... YOU WILL BE MINE!) and cant wait to revisit some more Yonder Cities cause that was great at the brewery last time I went.

    Cheers all.

I hit up Paradiso Georgetown last night - chose that over Dupont solely for Zombie Dust. First time trying that beer - worth the effort! Georgetown location was full but manageable. Got there at 5:30 and there were still tables...by 8:00 it was tough to get a beer. ZD kicked after about 2 hours. Got to try Space Station Middle Finger, Back Masking and a couple Elysian brews.

Excited for Drink Local! this afternoon at MP. I've realized that I've been posting for a while on here, but somehow haven't yet managed meet any other local BA's. Hoping to change that this evening.

Have fun tonight. As for me, I've been beering it up and eating like a fat kid for the last couple of months which isn't good for my line of work. I think I've hit a wall and am going to draw the line...... at least until my birthday at the end of April. lol

Enjoy the locals. A lot of classy and awesome breweries in the area for sure. I expect the Orange Whip to last at least 20 minutes!

    Cheers!

Had some Orange Whip at the source tonight with no line at all  Not that I would expect one it's just funny to me how little some of the Nova bars played into the CBC.

I plan on it! I've noticed a decent amount of variation between Orange Whip batches. They are usually a few months apart and all have been AMAZING but this batch wasn't as much of a fruit/flavor bomb as the last batch was.

None the less I was happy I could make it to a couple events this week but I was going crazy knowing I couldn't attend them all!

Yeah man, between the kickoff at Rustico (Ballston) last weekend, the FFF/NC Churchkey event, and the awesome Bruery showcase at Paradiso, I decided for my own health (lol) I should pace myself a bit. Time to dry out...

I need to drink more beer. Unable to hit most of what you guys have been discussing, but did make it to CK and Smoke & Barrel on Tuesday night. I love me some saiisons at the CK. First time for some Hill Farmstead. Arrive at about 5:15 to a line out the door. Was able to get a space at the bar at Birch & Barley. Then walked to S&B. Did some Firestones and Ballast Points.

That was it for me this week. Work. Sick 3-year old. In Richmond for Easter so no Friday night or weekend leftovers.

    A great week in DC.
