I'm making the DC to Allentown trek in a few weeks. Plan is take Rt. 15 and hit Troegs on the way up and then Funk. Where else? Sole Bar+Bottle? They seem to get mixed reviews. Hit Weyerbacher last time, but probably don't need to go back.

Seems like there's a ton of new places in PA-- willing to take a different route back home to hit some (thinking about heading back via Tired Hands, which I always enjoy)

I would hit Pizza Boy and/or Selinsgrove if you're coming up this way. I'd check the hours for Selinsgrove if you decide on that. Totally unfamiliar with them these days.

Edit: Just occurred to me that maybe you aren't going THAT far north on 15, so Selinsgrove is likely far out of your way.

Yergey Brewing is down the street from Funk. Based on what I've had from them, the beer isn't as good as Funk, but it's worth a stop if you are in Emmaus. More varied (ie. non-hoppy) styles.

The other newer places in the Allentown area - Bonn Place Brewing (Bethlehem) and Lost Tavern Brewing (Hellertown) I have only visited once each, but thought the beer and vibe was good at both.

If you are going to be near Troegs, you can check out The Brass Rail for store options, it is close by in Campebelltown.

I find them slightly pricey, but it's not that far out of the way if you're looking for a nearby shop.

Funk has food trucks every day that they are open. You can find the calendar on their facebook page. If you can make it to Bethlehem I'm of the opinion that Bonn Place is the best brewery in the LV...best vibe, consistently great beer with lots of variety. Only issue is that they rarely have food/food trucks. You can bring in outside food if you like.

Tired Hands is the most worthwhile place on your route and pretty easy to access off of 476. Forest & Main is worth a detour as well but I hardly think of going there for food anymore so I can't really vouch for that part of the experience there. The beer is great though!

Sole is a decent option...it's on a corner right by the freebridge that takes you to Phillipsburg...if you cross the bridge there's a decent bar/bottle shop called Freebridge Wine & Spirits which I recommend

small but good taplist, oftens times has Carton cans available...once in awhile they have Magnify cans

They don't serve food but there's a place next door to them that has food and you can take it in and eat at the bar

Not sure the route you will be taking but if you're close enough to Pizza Boy in Enola (just outside Harrisburg, about 20 miles from Hershey) that's a really good option...100 taps (PA only w/ probably 30+ of their own beers on) and always has numerous cans which are well priced
