I'm driving to Portland and visiting De Garde this weekend with almost the same problem as the above quoted BA. I am hoping to do at least one good IP trade while I am in town to round-out what I can buy at the brewery. The problem is I don't know what to ask for. It seems the "keepers" are probably impossible then there are the shelf beers which can be found at the stores. Are there some good in-between beers that could be reasonable to ask for in a trade for HF, NG, Trillium, JK?

Just trying to get some advice prior to loading my coolers and posting the IP trade. Thanks!!

HF, Trillium, and JK will all likely be able to pull brewery-only, non-keepers bottles

As noted earlier by others, Bu Weisse and Petit Desay can both be found around town. Possibly Tableau Rouge but any other bottles being available in a shop would be a surprise. In other words, everything else is essentially brewery-only. That doesn't mean that these aren't awesome beers (they are,) just that they're the most accessible and you needn't trade for them.

Almost all DG beers fall between the bottle shop beers and the Keepers bottles in terms of your ability to trade for them. I recommend figuring out which bottles you're interested in (you're really looking at 80+% of the beers being in that middle tier, though they're not all created equal) and going from there. Limits, time since release, and how hot people get for them will affect how much firepower you need to get them or if they are achievable.

Also, when you go to DG they almost always have a baller list of on-premises bottles that you can sample which often include keepers bottles. If you're wishing you could try those, you will likely get a chance to try a few (for under $20!) that would be almost impossible to trade for. Lucky you!

Bringing this back up, I'll be back in Portland this weekend, anyone see any bottles handing around town?

    Cheers!

We have plenty of Bu Weisse, Tableau Rouge and Petit Desay here in Eugene, so I'm assuming you shouldn't have any problem finding them in PDX as well. If that turns out not to be the case, call the folks over at Arch Bridge Tap House in Oregon City to see if they still have some (they seem to be always generally well supplied with de Garde stuff). The last couple times I was there, they also had the bu weisse on tap. The tap house is a bit of a ways from down town PDX, but is still no more than a 15 minute drive if traffic isn't too bad.

If none of that will work out for you, shoot me a beermail. I'll be up in PDX this Saturday, and it would be no problem to pick up some bottles at 16 tons and bring them up to PDX.

I REALLY appreciate it man!! I'll do what I can. I lived in PDX for 12 years before moving to Denver a couple of years ago and haven't had the privilege of try de Garde yet.

    Cheers!

I saw Bu Weisse and Petit Desay at Belmont Station and Imperial Bottle Shop (slightly cheaper) a couple days ago.

Bu Weisse and Petit Desay have been on the shelf more often than not at New Seasons, at least at Arbor Lodge.

Beer will be scarce for awhile outside of the taproom once the current shelves around the state are empty. I know Belmont Station picked up the last of the Bu and Petit from our distributor, and new batches of those are at minimum six months out. A couple other beers may hit the market in about 3-5 months. We are at the mercy of the beer unfortunately.
I'm not trying to encourage sales, but if you like them and have access, I would recommend purchasing now because we don't have more to send.

Whole Foods and Market of Choice are probably the best bets for Bu and Petite Desay. Not all New Seasons have them because it was a PITA to get them approved at first without the SKUs. I did see 1 lone Bu Weisse on Thursday at Imperial on Division.

Any way to figure out when the next large (quarterly) release will be? Or when it will be announced even? I know that they generally drop during the week, so I'm trying to plan time off of work and the trip out around the release so the sooner I can know the better. Imperial Bu's and such are the main thing I'm after. I missed the last release by a couple of days and everything was sold out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also need to start putting money away for the trip, so really the sooner the better! Thanks again!

Damn! Just stopped by Belmont Station and a couple of shops around town and nothing! Anything else new in the last couple of years I need to grab before heading back to Denver?

Hopefully you got some block 15 stick hands at Belmont. Anything Gigantic, pFriem, or Breakside IPAs also. de Garde should still be available at Whole Foods in the Pearl FYI.
