Multiple bottles of unreleased Block 15 Dark Cherry Imagine being poured by one of the brewers, saying "take as much as you want, I brought a few bottles"? Fantastic!

It's a Washingtonian asking whether there's going to be a bottle share at Zwanze.

It might initially seem a bit counter-intuitive that the out of towners would be more concerned with bottle share but I guess it makes a bit of sense if you think about it from an investment point of view. If you invest all that time and money into making a trip, it damn well better pay off not ONLY with all the great tap beers but with an insane bottle share at the event, in the hotel, and then by garggling with Zomer and taking a bath in Izzy. If your only "investment" is driving out there and your whole weekend isn't dedicated to drinking yourself into a guezey stupor, then you'll probably be happy with the stuff on tap and cracking a few nice bottles. One only has to look at the two big bottle release events - Huna and Dark Lord - to note that there's a bit of a pattern with events that draw a big out of town crowd and the desire for a massive bottle share.

And apologies if I was unclear earlier - I didn't mean this as a criticism of the event at all. I thought it was pretty close to perfect and appreciated the focus being on what was on draft or what Trevor was pouring from bottles. And if I gave the impression that "nice" bottles weren't open in the share, @oregonskibum, that was not my intention. I'm sad I missed the Cherry Imagine and Special Kay, for example! From what I overheard and conversations I had with out of town folks it was less about the quality of bottles opened and more that they didn't feel like they had a convenient central place to share bottles. Again, don't shoot the messenger (even if the message is anecdote and hearsay). One bottle share location was over by barrels in a corner and one by a bunch of the Bu taps.

And, again anecdotal evidence, but notice that all the folks saying "bah, the bottle share isn't what it's about" are locals ... which sorta supports my point!

(Before someone calls me out as a Washingtonian and therefore an out of towner myself, I'm loosely considering the PNW one cozy family unit.)

Boo - I missed that one. My one regret!

Like a fishing story, every beer event needs to have the one that got away.

Probably devoting too much time to a comment made in jest, but this really doesn't seem to be an Oregon thing either. I can't think of any other releases, festivals, or special events at bars where there's an expectation of a bottle share; except for the HOTD dock sales, and even that is something of a thing of the past.
