Hey I had the De Struise Rio Reserva '08 and '09 on tap and they were both amazing. I'd like to get some more De Struise beers on tap and noticed they have several highly rated quads. My question is does anyone have experience trading for them, and what did they give up? If bottles of these are uber whales I'll pass but if it's reasonable let me know.
IF you can find them, they retail for about $7-9 or so for an 11.2oz bottle. At risk of making it even harder to find, I love all of the various versions of Pannepot. I've enjoyed everything they make that I've tried. To find it on tap is a major coup. Ebenezer's in Maine has a good relationship with De Struise and tends to have it more than most.
Soetimes it just takes the right eye to see your post. If you ever make it to Belgium, give Carlo and Urbain a call. If they're around and brewing at the schoolhouse in Oostvleteren, they have a station with 20 or so taps in the brewery. That leads you to pester your local beer guy (@Ganglani) until he hosts a fest with Blackberry Albert van 't vat.
If you want to dive deep down the rabbit hole, the online Belgian websites all have all those beers for sale. They are...not cheap. But you can get all kinds of the Pannepots, Black Albert and treatments, and the number series. Along with tons more. I'd recommend etre. It's a slippery slope. Good luck.
