Oh, I just assumed those were beers people thought were fair to good, at best

First beer listed is Miller High Life. Closed my tab after reading that. I am not his target demographic.

Man, for a website devoted to a beverage that tends to make people more jovial, there sure are a lot of humorless folks on this thread.

This list is a joke for the most part

There are many bars in PA that do not have Sam Adams, but instead Yuengling is the best beer on tap.

But yes, I agree it's not a good fit for New England , since it sounds like Narragansett is your local equivalent. They actually have almost the same average score here on BA - 78 and 77.

Entertaining read, obviously meant to be humorous. Pretty much one person's opinion who writes things to get a rise out of people. Beer, like anything else that involves personal taste, is subjective. Don't take it so seriously. Have a beer (whatever one you find to not be overrated) and relax! Cheers!

I'm sure I'm setting myself up here for flames, but Yuengling and Sam Adams lager on tap is pretty equivalent for me. And I do like lagers. I don't see the need for both on tap, but one is fine especially at places with bad options.

Personally, I like Yuengling cans for the end of the night, as I prefer lighter abv for the end of the night instead of some 10% alcohol bomb to "sip".

I'm embarrassed I took the time to read this article. The author did nothing more than state his opinion. The thing is filled with qualifications of how he made the list but any way you end up with Red Stripe and Heady Topper on the same list you've shown your idiocy. Deadspin needs to find other writers.

Talk about the obvious. It really doesn't take much to compile a list of 18 overrated beers when 10 or so are adjunct lagers.

I think instead of Rasputin it should have been Old Stock, but other than that, got a good chuckle at the list. The Stella comment was great!

I understand, but even in your earlier beer drinking days did you never cross paths with the Champagne of Beers? I mean, there are people out there who will tell you that it's head and shoulders above other AALs, which is wholly untrue.

It looks like he just drinks a bunch of macro and a friend game him a Heady once.

I was weened on Yuengling. Turned 21 in North Carolina, it was that and our patented Third Deck Vodka Blue which consisted of:
    1 shot of Nikolai Vodka
    1 shot of Blue Drank
    Mix in mouth

Heady gets a lot of hype, but in my opinion it deserves it. There aren't many better IIPAs.

I like Old Rasputin an awful lot, but besides that (even being from PA and having a soft, nostalgic spot for both Yuengling and Rolling Rock) I think the list is pretty damn on point. It could clearly be a LOT longer, but some of the items are pretty broad "your local's flagship" or "every line-inducing DIPA" and cover a lot of things I'd add by name.

Agreed. There aren't. But is it REALLY the best beer in the world? If it is #2, doesn't that make it overrated on this site?

I will agree with the authors comment on Olberon ( I've tried it way more than he has ), an alright beer, but not one I would ever buy again. He is dead wrong on Old Raspy & Anchor Steam though...

I think you could at least argue that it's #1. At least for IPAs. The only one I might above it is Double Sunshine, but it would be a coin toss.
