Heading up there this weekend for Labor day, I'm driving from Atlanta so I think I can pass through Charleston on my way up there. Only spot I was know I want to check out is Westbrook (although tap list doesn't look too strong right now). Are there any other bottle shops/breweries in the area that you guys recommend? Would like to come back to GA with some goodies not available here. Cheers.
Unfortunately, the entire Grand Strand area is a craft beer desert, IMHO...That's one of the reasons I'm debating not retiring there....
It's not the greatest shop in the world, but head about 15 minutes north to Pawleys Island: http://pawleysislandliquorstore.com/ Right off 17. They should have the main Westbrook stuff, potentially some other Charleston stuff (COAST), and an overall decent selection.
I live right near there in Murrells Inlet! Beautiful place!!! I recommend making the trip up to the piggly wiggly in market commons definitely the best selection around the grandstrand.
Spent a week at Debordieu 2 months ago. Incredible place but beer wasteland. The drive up to the Market Common Piggly was worth it. About an hour each way so plan accordingly and stock up. Didn't check out Pawley's Island Liquor. Pawley's Island Seafood though is highly recommended for all your fresh fish and shrimp needs.
Man when I first read this I saw, "dessert"...then my dreams were crushed. Thanks for the tips everybody, hope to find a few hidden gems somewhere.
Also check the Lowe's foods just on the the right heading north from debordieu it's close and they also have some decent selection and growler fills.
