i will be in Decatur for a week in mid July and was wondering some good beer bars and bottle shops to visit. Cheers
Ale Yeah! is less than a mile from the main square. On Mondays, they have food trucks and you can get a pint of draft in the shop.
Wrecking Bar and Brick Store. A buddy took me through Brick Stores full cellar and I was blown away. Leon's full service around the corner had some killer food to help soak up some of the beer as well.
I definitely love living here. There isn't any shortage of beer stuff you can do. Some people have mentioned Wrecking Bar and The Porter, which I agree are both great and relatively nearby, although not technically in Decatur. Ale Yeah is definitely a great bottle shop. Brickstore is a no-brainer, absolute must if you are going to be in Decatur. Draft list is always good but also ask for the cellar menu. Also, make sure to go to Twain's. It is an awesome brewpub. Three Taverns, Blue Tarp, and Wild Heaven are the breweries in town.
Steinbecks if you want a bar with some great food and top notch stuff on tap. That place no one knows about.
Agree, living in Decatur is incredible. Square Pub, Corner Pub, Iberian Pig, Mac McGees, Leon's, The Marlay House, The Pinewood, The Brickstore, and Twain's are all within walking distance of each other, all have good to great beer lists. Food is excellent too. 3 Taverns, Blue Tarp, and Wild Heaven are all also close and doing great beers, with Saturday tours being the best to line up for all three. For shopping, Ale Yeah! is a no brainier.
I also recommend checking out some of the growler shops. They have a lot of stuff on draft that isn't packaged. Ale Yeah has growler fills. Beer Growler Avondale Estates and Taps Growlers are very close. All have their tap lists online. Look for some Creature Comforts Cosmic Debris! You would also be crazy to not catch an uber to Wrecking Bar! My favorite of all the places listed above.
