NA beer sucks. If I want something fizzy and flavorful, I'll reach for a kombucha. There are some crappy ones out there, but the good ones actually kinda remind me of beer in a way. It's also super-easy to brew yourself. I'm thinking of doing a hopped batch soon.

    Good post.
The best part of the article was saved for the last.

"As we said, there are a lot of solid reasons to drink non-alcoholic beer. Whatever your reason for ordering one is, we hope we've given you enough knowledge to shut down any smartass detractors next time you're out."

Try some shandies instead. Take your favourite APA, pils, wheat, bitter etc and desecrate it by mixing half and half with sprite/7 up/schweppes lemonade. Not alcohol free of course but you'll get something beery at 2 to 3%

the best low alcohol beers i've had are Cromarty 2 craigs stout and weird beird dark hopfler . I doubt they are exported though.

Other than that, all the big german breweries tend to make one or two alcohol free ones

I would never advocate drinking during pregnancy, although it's personal choice and can be done in moderation...unfortunately I also can't advocate drinking bad NA beer. Colorado still has the 3.2% Sunday beer law, correct? Do they make anything close to craft at 3.2%? Or is it just the big boys? Other than that, I think the person who said to talk to the Doc about safe levels is the best, as you can imbibe carefully and be fine. I hope you find a solution and keep your wife and the baby happy and healthy!...

I do have dome Crooked Stave beer at 3%. There are also some wannabe craft beers in the supermarket we may try as well.

Just to clarify, she's not looking to get wasted in any way. She's already gone 4 months without a beer and just wanted to have some. Our doctor has already said she's fine to havehave a beer from time to time, but she doesn't want to do that. Thus is why we're looking to get her an NA beer to find some sense of enjoying a beer. She'll likely toss it as she's snobby as hell about her beer, but we figured it would be worth a try.

    Than you everyone

Have you tried Schmohz 120? 0.26% ABV

It has become a big deal around Michigan.

During a couple of periods when I couldn't drink alcohol, I mostly missed having a beer with meals, especially Mexican food and Indian/Thai food. I found Clausthaler Amber to be fairly palatable. I understand they have a dry-hopped variation now...that sounds pretty good.

There was something in the onion a while ago about the makers of non alcoholic beer marketing a non adhesive glue. That sums it up pretty well.

Just like @PhilsPils said I saw a new Clausthaler at my local Binny's and it was dry-hopped. Did not buy it but probably will next time because it has peaked my interest. Then there is Buckler and that is brewed by Heineken. Guinness also makes a N-A called Kaliber.

Plenty of adequate options for your wife if she chooses not to imbibe.

    Good luck & Cheers

There was an article in the New Scientist some years ago regarding NA drinks. The conclusion was that the alcohol performs a vital function regarding the flavour ; it cannot simply be removed and leave the drink unaltered.
There are NA beers which people do like , but to be truthful I don't find them very drinkable at all.

The only NA beer that I ever enjoyed (and thought that it tasted remarkably similar to an alcoholic one) was Buckler. The Bros rated it as "awful" but then again, it may be hard for them to appreciate a NA beer? Just saying.
