I've never been up to any of the DeCicco stores and was looking for some feedback if any of the stores stand out as having a better selection.
Decicco's Ardsley used to be the best, but then their beer guy Alex, left, and they opened up a store in Brewster that is much larger and has a bar and they funnelled a lot of there stock there. All of which is to say Brewster is the best and the biggest (in terms of size and selection) and is the only one with a bar. Ardsley is decent but its a lot less impressive than it used to be. However, no matter which one you go to, the selection is going to be a lot better than any NYC bottle shop you've been to. Finally, there's also a Decicco's in Pelham. Out of the 3, by far the least impressive and they don't have a growler system. However, you can find some gems up there from time to time since no one seems to go there. Last month, I found a 2011 BA Old Ruffian there out of the blue.
Noticed these behind the counter at Brewster a couple weeks ago.....did these make it around to other stores in the area? Weird that they would only pop up at this particular "chain"....
The DeCicco's in Brewster is definitely the best due to the beer bar and the pressure-filled growlers. Because of that pressure fill system, you will pay $1 - $2 more for a growler than other outlets but the results justify the cost. The beer does not go flat, can be kept refrigerated for at least 2 weeks [I've seen other posts that say more, but personally I've only kept one for 2 weeks] and it tastes just like it came from a tap when you open it. The bottle selection is first class but even though most of the display stock is refrigerated, you need to check freshness dates. I found several instances of outdated IPAs on one of my frequent visits. Of course, it looks as if the Brewster store is the farthest away from you. ROAD TRIP!!!!
I've asked that question to the guys there about other beers and their response was "we draw alot of water so the distributor treats us well" or something similar to that.
Thanks guys, I stopped by the Ardsley store today and was impressed by the selection. Best of all they already had BCBS.
