I'm going to be flying in from the US, to Sydney and then taking a NZ Cruise. 1 or 2 of the days I'm going to do a Cruise Excursion, but the other days I would like to hopefully check out some local breweries or interesting craft beer bars. I am kind of limited in needing to go to places that would be open throughout the day/lunch time as our ship usually docks in early, and leaves relatively early in the evening. Here are the places I will be and the times.
Thursday - Auckland 9:00 AM 5:00 PM Docked

Friday - Tauranga 9:30 AM 8:45 PM Docked

Saturday - Napier 2:00 PM 8:00 PM Docked

Sunday - Wellington 10:00 AM 6:00 PM Docked

Monday - Picton 8:00 AM 4:00 PM Docked

If I can only pick 2 or 3 of these cities to go explore local beer options, knowing the time frame of leaving a few of these relatively early, any recommendations from those local to the area on which cities I should try to go out in and to which specific places. Is it fairly easy to get cabs in most of these cities to go to and from places?

    I appreciate any input.

    Thanks

I've only been to Wellington, so can't help with the others.

Hashigo Zake opens at midday and is well worth checking out: http://www.hashigozake.co.nz/beerlist.html
If the Liberty beers are fresh, try them. Others are more up to date with the newer NZL brewers.

If you are looking at other non-beer things to do before bars open, I found the Te Papa Museum or Museum of New Zealand to be quite good.

Some other suggestions here: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/traveling-to-nz.250593/ and in the thread linked within.

    Enjoy your trip!
