Not sure if anybody has tried this yet this year. Just got a small growler because it sounds interesting. Loved W&T and their basic Double Brown, so I'm hoping this one is good as well. Any feedback would be appreciated!
It is good, though not great. I did not get any cherry, and only a hint of a coco powder like chocolate flavor. Double Brown is far superior, let alone W&T. Just my opinion of coarse. I do still like it, and can't go wrong with $3 pints at Hay Merchant for happy hour.
Meh. I've had it a couple times now. Bitter chocolate + light cherry. Good and worth trying since FW is afloat with it for V-Day. Would probably put it at a 3.25 to 3.5. Darkest Hour is their best stout. Again bitter chocolate but with a nice hoppy bite to it.
The batch this year is better than last year, but I think the bar was not very high. That being said, I enjoy it, but you need to be in the mood for that bitter chocolate.
Thanks for the info, people! Probably going to crack into it this weekend and refill the baby-growler with cascabel cream if I can still find it!
The cascabel is pretty tasty but a little too lingering spicy for me..I think it's a great idea to combine a viscous base beer with the peppers though. I had te Freetail End of the World in the same couple day span and I think I just over did the spicy beer
I had it on tap last year at mellow mushroom and thought it was pretty good, actually got a lot of tart cherry
I had last year's and this year's versions; I thought they were both solid beers with this year's version being better. They're nothing to go overly crazy over to find other than they made a limited amount, most likely to create a craze for people to get it.
I do really like Darkest Hour. I think they have that at Growlers or PD. Will probably grab some this weekend.
