Natural light for sure. A staple in my college nutrition

+1. Many good times spent over a pint of Pottsville gold.

Everybody's tastes are different. One person's crappy beer is another person's great-representation-of-the-style.

To the OP: As for me, I am going with Bitburger. It rates fairly low on BA, but I think it is an excellent beer. It's extremely crisp, spicy, almost metallic (in a good way) taste to it. I love picking up a 4 pack of 16 oz tallboys for $5 too!

This past February I purchased a 12 pack of Genny Bock at a Rite Aid in Lake Placid, NY for about 7 bucks. This was my first time drinking this beer. Your description of “surprisingly flavorful for a large brewery product” is spot on! As regards the comment of “it doesn't try to compete with craft beers”, that is spot on as well. Where can you get a 12 pack (or two six-packs) of craft beer for 7 bucks?

I am crossing my fingers that Genesee will distribute their Bock to my area (SEPA) next year. I would like to buy a case of this beer.

    Cheers!

I'm right near Placid, and have always wanted to try Genny Bock. If I'm ever in the area, I'll stop in and try to grab some. Have heard it's good.

You might have to wait until next year? It is my understanding that Genny Bock is a seasonal beer:

“Genesee Bock beer Our take on the 16th century German legend has turned out to be a legend in its own right. For every spring since 1951, our brewery has carefully crafted and lagered Genesee Bock Beer. The result is an exceptionally hearty, full-flavored beer with a slight malty finish—and a perfect way to celebrate the snow melt.”

    Cheers!

There's something about Rolling Rock that makes it my go-to cheap beer. As for some other beers I like that don't get much love, I must admit that I enjoy a Magic Hat #9 or a Shocktop from time to time

You may want to call around and see if there are any 'left overs'?

I had my last Genny Bock last night and it was still drinking tasty!

    Cheers!

Buffalo Bill's Orange Blossom Cream Ale. It's rated very average, so I'm assuming most people on here don't think much of it. I love it, in fact I think I've bought a case of it 3 summers in a row now. It isn't the most amazing beer I've ever had, but I love it for what it is. It's refreshing, smooth, and one of the best summer brews IMO.

I think most macro beers suffer because the carbonation is too soda-like, with big bubbles. For such simple beers, things like texture and temperature are extra-important. One of the most memorably satisfying draft beers I've had was a Sapporo that had a more creamy, nitro-like head (had it along with a great yakitori meal at Tori Shin in NYC.)
